About Mrs. Sumner... Mary Sumner, a native of Sanford, North Carolina, attended UNC-Greensboro from 2002-2006 earning a degree in Music Education. While attending UNCG Mary was an active member in several university ensembles including the flute choir. Mary has been teaching for six years and is the current band director at Beulaville and Chinquapin Elementary schools. Her program serves sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students, instructing them in woodwind, brass, and percussion instruments. Mary is a current member of the National Association for Music Education, the North Carolina Music Educators Association, and the South East District Bandmasters Association. Mary also served as the Assistant Director of the East Duplin Marching Panthers from 2006-2010. Currently, Mary is an active member in the worship ministry at Grace Covenant Church in Beulaville, NC and plays flute for various events such as weddings and church cantatas.   .jpg "NCMEA") .jpg "NAfME")
