Grading/Classroom Procedures/PoliciesYour grade in this class will be calculated as follows at the end of each grading period:QUIZZES.......................................80% LAB NOTEBOOK................……...5% SAT VOCABULARY QUIZZES......5% BENCHMARK TESTS.……….....…10%
QUIZZES: Quizzes will be given on a regular basis (to accompany homework assignments) and will assess knowledge of the previous day’s lesson and/or homework. Students may correct quizzes during halftime and/or after school (on designated days); the corrected quiz grade will replace the original quiz grade. An SAT Vocabulary quiz (not correctable) will be given every Friday, unless otherwise announced.
CLASS/LAB NOTEBOOK: Class/homework will be assigned as needed and will be collected after each quiz. Class/homework will be checked regularly for completeness and/or correctness. The lab notebook will be checked at the end of each grading period for selected entries.
BENCHMARK TESTS: A cumulative multiple-choice benchmark test will be given at the end of each grading period.
NOTE: All homework and other assignments, unless otherwise noted, will be due at the beginning of class on the due date. NO EXCEPTIONS. NO LATE WORK ACCEPTED.
GRADE CURVING POLICY: All quizzes and benchmark tests will be adjusted as follows: Little Johnny’s raw grade on a quiz was 81; his final grade for the quiz is the square root of 81 times 10: 811/2 X 10 = 90
MAKE-UP POLICY: If you are absent, YOU are responsible for asking about missed assignments, notes, etc. You will have the number of days you were absent to make up work (unless other arrangements are made). There will be no correcting of make-up quizzes.
