Our third graders participated in a couple of interesting activities pertaining to the College Initiative, before Christmas, which we would like to share with you. They were able to choose a career to research and write an informational report concerning that career. Some of the classes made collages of pictures that related to their career choice. Also, we had a couple of cheerleaders from Cape Fear Community College that came before Christmas to share with our students their college experiences. The third graders have been working hard since October to learn their multiplication facts, and all of their hard work will be rewarded in the coming weeks. We will be having our ice cream sundae party soon, and the more facts they mastered the more toppings they will get. (YUM!!) Next, we would like to tell you how excited the students are that we have begun our Science curriculum in January. We have already talked about light, and we are now studying the Solar System. We will also be studying about the Skeleton system, Soil, and Plants. Finally, we would like to mention that we are hoping to get all of our plans finalized for a field trip in March. We are wishing to visit the Planetarium at UNC Chapel Hill, where we will be able to tour the campus and get a feel for a real college campus. |
