BES is now a TerraCycle Brigade participant which means we are collecting specific non-recyclable packaging as a way to raise money. This free collection program educates children about reusing, provides a much needed boost in funding for us and most importantly, saves tons of garbage from ending up in a landfill.
You can help by having your child bring in EMPTY drink pouches such as Capri Sun and Honest Kids. We will send them to TerraCycle and, in return, receive $.02 per drink pouch. You can even track our school's collection efforts through www.terracycle.net. An eco-friendly innovator, TerraCycle will upcycle the materials we collect into cool, new, eco-friendly and affordable products such as tote bags, pencil cases, kites, shower curtains, and backpacks that are available nationwide at Wal-Mart, Target, Home Depot, Office Max, and Sam's Club. Since the products are made directly from used packaging of recognizable brands, children are able to quickly understand the impact of their efforts. For more information on TerraCycle, visit www.terracycle.net or call 866-967-6766. For questions or more information about this program, please contact Anna Lanier at 910-298-3171 or anlanier@duplinschools.net. |
