Welcome to Duplin early College High School.  My name is Anne Pittman.  This is my third year at Duplin Early College High School, and I love working with the students and staff here.  I will be teaching Honors Biology first semester and Honors Earth/Environmental Science and American Rock second semester.  I am originally from Maryland, near Washington D.C.  I have a B.S. in Geology and a Minor in Education from Marietta College in Ohio and an M.S. in Geology from West Virginia University.  I have a varied background working for a state geological survey, teaching college, high school and middle school, and working for non-profit organizations. I have had plenty of adventures rafting in the Grand Canyon, backpacking in the desert, going in underground coal mines, climbing up ancient volcanoes, exploring caves, visiting sites where environmental remediation was taking place, digging up dinosaur bones, and collecting organisms in swamp water.  I think teaching is one of the greatest adventures and I really look forward to seeing my students from last year and getting to know the new 9th graders.
