Welcome! I am delighted to continue the 2012-2013 school year with American Literature, Creative Writing, and Journalism! Studying our culture's literature is important in understanding where we come from as a literate society today. Did you know that the first words were officially written by Sumerians over 9,000 years ago? So we have a lot of writing to study.

I am from SE NC. I graduated from Pender High School, and I have a B.A. in English Education and a minor in Creative Writing from UNC Wilmington. I have traveled all over the United States, India, and Europe, and I look forward to spending many summers abroad to add to my adventures.

I love to read, and I hope to instill that in my students, as well as an appreciation for all of the less "interesting" literature out there. We will be discussing texts from The Crucible and Walden to Emily Dickenson and Allen Ginsberg. Any necessary class information, including weekly vocabulary, can be found on this site. Please check it daily for assignments. All students are responsible for their work, whether or not they were in class.
