North Duplin Elementary is Wild About Learning! North Duplin Elementary School is a K-6 school, serving approximately 655 students, in rural Duplin County. With a strong focus on academics, North Duplin Elementary School prides itself on meeting the needs of the 21st Century learner in a community school setting. Through the generous support of the Duplin County 21st Century Initiative and EPIC, our parent teacher organization, every academic classroom is outfitted with a SMART interactive whiteboard and every grade level has access to digital document cameras and response systems. Our school built a second computer lab in 2008-2009, increasing our student's 1 to 1 connection. In 2010-11, North Duplin Elementary secured a laptop cart and an iPod touch cart which are both outfitted with thirty devices. During the year 2011-2012 two iPad carts were purchased to provide our students and teachers with easy access to a multitude of web resources. In 2008-9, North Duplin Elementary adopted the theme, We Are Wild About Learning!, where the school media center and hallways were transformed with murals embracing the "wild" theme. Students and guests are greeted by lions, giraffes, elephants and other wild creatures where the theme is incorporated at every grade level. In addition, our school has received several health initiative grants, benefiting our students with a rock wall, roller blades, and even bicycles!
