Use of Facilities

The library-media resources includes a wide variety of print and non-print materials which includes books, magazines, newspapers, videos, and technology for reference and research or leisure reading purposes.  Therefore, students may use the media center:

  • before and after school
  • during break
  • during the lunch period and
  • when permitted (by a teacher) during regular class periods

Teacher signed permits/passes are required as students center the library during regular class periods.

Students must present a student ID card in order to check out books and other resources.  Regular library books are checked out to students for a circulation period of two weeks.  Books may be renewed for one renewal period

Specific reference books and back periodicals may be checked out for overnight use only.  Books with a specific checkout period must be checked out after 3:00 p.m. and should be returned to the media center prior to first period the following day.

Library books should be returned to the media center on or before the due date.  Overdue fines are charged as:

  • regular library books - $.05
  • reference books and periodical - $.25
  • lost library books - stated value of the book

Books not returned to the media center after a designated period of time may be determined by the media coordinator as being LOST.  The student will then be fined the value of the book.  The fine should be paid to the media coordinator before the end of the current school year/graduation or transferral from the school.

Students with overdue library books will be unable to check out additional materials until books are returned and fines paid.

Students are not to remove book barcodes.  Students will be charged a $1.00 replacement fine (per barcode) for any known damaged barcode.

Students are reminded not to have food or drink in the media center.

As students use the media center facilities they are expected to observe all library policies, procedures, and rules of behavior.
