NDJS is a public institution and must expect certain standards of cleanliness and dress that are compatible with the requirements of a wholesome climate and atmosphere. If a student's lack of personal hygiene and/or cleanliness constitutes a health or safety threat, such a condition must be addressed by involving teachers, the school nurse, social worker, and the school administration. In such cases, the situation must be remedied before a student is permitted to return to school and class.
Often, dress codes are designed to negate the appearance of unusual, outlandish, or inappropriate attire that is detrimental or disruptive to the teaching-learning process. Attire cannot be provocative, vulgar, revealing, indecent, obscene, or suggestive. Students may be asked to call home for appropriate attire.
