Wondering if a particular book has an
Accelerated Reader test to go with it,
or if the KES library has a copy?

To see if a book has an AR test:

Kenansville Elementary not only has Accelerated Reader, we are a part of Renaissance Place!  That means that instead of our school having to buy individual AR tests, our students have web based access to EVERY AR test that currently exists, as well as ALL of the new ones that they add during the year!

To see if there is an AR test -
1.  Go to www.renlearn.com.
2.  Choose "Store", "Quiz Store", then "Quiz Search".
3.  Type in the book title and click "GO".

Helpful Hints:
*Make SURE the test that you see has the same author as the book that you have.  Sometimes books have similar or even exactly the same titles.

*You may want to narrow your search by making a different selection in the "How to match words in titles" box.  Otherwise the list will include all books that have the words that you typed anywhere in the title.

*Example
I want to see if the book Soup, by Robert Newton Peck, has an AR test, and if so-its reading level, and point value.

If I type in "Soup", my search shows 83 matches!  (Alphabet Soup, Bone Soup, The Cat Who Liked Potato Soup, …)

If I change the "How to match words in titles" box to "Starts with", it shows 19 matches, with the first three all having the same title.

Looking at the author column clarifies that the one I'm looking for, by Robert Newton Peck, does indeed exist, and is on a 4.4 reading level and worth 2 points.

To see if a book is available in our library:

1.    Go to Duplin County Schools website:  www.duplinschools.net

2.   Click on "Admin Depts".  Click on "Media and Technology".

3.   On the left hand side, click on "Media Services".  Click on "Online School Library Catalogs".

4.   Click on "Kenansville Elementary School".

5.   To narrow your search by reading level, from the drop down menu for Reading Programs, click on Accelerated Reader. For example, if you enter 3.5 - 4.0, you will generate a list of 478 books. To print, click on "Printable" in the upper right hand corner.

6.   Underneath the Title will be the call number for the books.  If the book's call number starts with an E or an F, the book is a fiction books.  If the book's call number starts with a number, the  book is nonfiction.
