NC Office of Early Learning-Pre-Kindergarten Remote Learning has a weekly schedule of activities for PK children that is broken down by developmental ages that will assist with meeting the domains of the PK curriculum.

Before we left for the extended break we were reading/singing Old McDonald had a Farm E-I-E-I-O. The first animal was a dog with a woof here and a woof there. Another dog song is B-I-N-G-O.
Both of these can be found on YOUTUBE if you are not familar with the songs.  Have your child draw a dog.Where is the head? the eyes? How may legs?  What does a dog eat? What would you name your dog? What color is your dog? Build a dog house out of any available materials- box, chair with sheet, etc. Be creative and have fun!
And on that farm there was a chicken E I E I O. with a cluck cluck here and a cluck there E I E I O. How many legs does a chicken have? Draw a chicken, add a chicken house. Are your chickens walking around the yard or in a fence? What do we get from chickens? Draw an egg. How do we use eggs?
And on that farm there was a cow E-I-O with a moo moo here and a moo tmoo here E-I-E-I-O. How many legs does a cow have? What does a cow eat? Draw a cow. Add a barn. How many animals does Old McDonald have on his farm now? Name them.
And on that farm there was a pig E-I-E-O with an oink here and an oink there, here an oink , there oink , everywhere an oink, oink. E-I-E-I-O. Have you seen any pigs around your home? Pigs may be the smartest farm animals and can learn tricks. Mama pigs are called sows and can have around 12 pigs each time they have a litter. Draw a mama  with her 12 baby pigs.  Ask an adult to tell you the pretend story of the 3 Little Pigs .
Old McDonald had a farm E-I-E-I-O And on that farm he had a donkey E-I-E-I-O with a hee-haw here and a hee-haw there everwhere a hee-haw E-I-E-I-O. Male donkeys are called jacks and female donkeys are called jennys. Baby donkeys are called foals. Donkeys eat grass, straw and other plants.  Ms Donna has 2 donkeys: Franklin and Sadie. They like to eat apples, bananas and carrots for snacks. Draw food that you would feed your donkey if you had one. Would you eat the same snacks?
We are in the last week of our scheduled school year, but I will continue to keep you updated with information about the up-coming school year as it becomes available. For all of Old McDonald's animals create a barn. You can use sheets & chairs inside, dirt in the yard, boxes, cans, plastic jugs, etc.  Enjoy your summer, but continue to practice counting, colors, shapes, numbers and alphabet. Hot days inside are a good time to practice cutting with scissors and using writing instruments. Enjoy your time together and stay healthy!

We miss seeing everyone while we are out, but I know that you are continuing to grow and learn at home with your family. Please read the texts that I send out for guidance on activities and resources that are available for your child's growth. The physical and social/emotional growth is important at this age as well as academics. Stay healthy and stay in touch!
