CES 8th grade student uses his love of Legos and old war ships to create a replica of the USS Missouri. It took him about one month to create the Missouri, complete with turrets, aircraft, and radars. Brown says he does not use kits, but prefers to use the images from stills and movies.
JaCorey Davis, 8th grade student advisory council representative, and Mrs. Summerlin, 8th Grade ELA & SS teacher, submitted a video about Chinquapin Elementary. The video placed 3rd out of hundreds of videos entered in the state.
“The visual artists, particularly Anne, have done really good stuff with introducing those concepts and using the approaches,” Reardon said.
Student displays include LED Christmas trees, science fair projects, and a STEAMA photo booth among several other things! The Chorus and Band will be completing the night with a concert for all! Concessions will be available for purchase beginning at 6:30 for those needing to grab a bite to eat before attending.
Thank you Officer Forster! CES D.A.R.E. Graduates! This year millions of school children around the world will benefit from D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education), the highly acclaimed program that gives kids the skills they need to avoid involvement in drugs, gangs, and violence.
Students were entertained and educated about the principles of gravity, leverage, fulcrums and simple machines by Garry Krinsky, Toying with Science today at a schoolwide STEAMA field trip.
STEAMA Day 11/4 was a big success! The entire school was privileged to participate in the Game Day Cardboard Challenge on STEAMA day. Students in 7th and 8th grade worked with Ms. Anne Haugh and Mrs. Nina Gail Lanier to create "cardboard" games for students in grades K-8 to play. The creators and participants had a blast!
