• Digital Learning Model Classroom Application Information

    We are excited to announce Duplin County Schools recently received the NCDPI Digital Learning Initiative Grant.  Through this grant, Duplin County Schools is planning to develop model digital learning classrooms in our district to increase mastery of the NC Digital Learning Competencies for Teachers. Our goal is to provide a network of educators sharing how meeting the criteria of the digital learning competencies can help to personalize instruction and increase student learning.

     

    We are seeking teachers who are excited about the possibilities increased access to technology and digital resources can provide for students.  In order to be considered, teachers will need to complete the application process. A total of four recipients will be selected.  The selected teachers will receive the following:

     

    • 10 iPads per room or 20 Chromebooks

    • Cart for storing and charging devices
    • NCTIES Conference Attendance - March 5th & 6th

    • Additional 2 days of professional development in-district

    • $1,000 Stipend Incentive

    Yes, the conferences will provide an opportunity for participants to gain some valuable learning opportunities as how to grow and increase digital learning opportunities for students in the classroom. Therefore, attendance is critical in helping develop and cultivate a digital learning environment that promotes student success that can be shared with others throughout our district.

  • What are the 2-day in-district professional development requirements?

    Digital Learning Model Classroom participants in grades 3-12 will be required to attend a 2-day workshop on Canvas Learning Management System (LMS). The Canvas LMS connects all of the digital tools and resources teachers use into one simple place to make differentiation and personalized learning easier to teachers and students.  Participants in this group will be required to develop and build course content in Canvas that can be shared with others throughout the district.

    Digital Learning Model Classroom participants in grades K-3 will be required to attend 2 workshops sessions.  The topics will vary and these sessions are designed to provide participants with tools and resources make differentiation and personalized learning easier to teachers and students.

  • When will I be expected to have visitors come to observe my classroom?

    Becoming a Digital Learning Model Classroom teacher is a process that will require your participation in professional development and time to refine your implementation in the classroom.  Therefore, participants will not be required to have visitors until they are comfortable with the implementation in their classroom. Most of the classroom visits will occur in the 2020-2021 school year.

  • When will I be expected to redeliver professional development?

    Becoming a Digital Learning Model Classroom teacher is a process that will require your participation in professional development and time to refine your implementation in the classroom.  Therefore, participants will not be required to redeliver professional development until they are comfortable with the content. The end of this school year will be the earliest with most redelivery occurring in the 2020-2021 school year.

  • When will we receive the student devices?

    Posted by:

    Student devices will be ordered once the winners are announced.  Once the devices are received and setup by our technology staff, they will be delivered to your classroom for use.
