    --ACT College & Career Readiness Champions - Applications are open for the ACT Student Champion Award! The ACT Student Champion Award recognizes one student in each state who is tenacious and persistent, no matter the challenge, and is prepared for life after high school with a goal in mind and a plan in place. ACT Student Champions receive a $500 non-renewable scholarship, certificate, and state-level recognition. To apply, students should be a HS Senior who has overcome challenges and can articulate their education and/or career actions; have a composite score of 22 on the ACT or a Gold ACT WorkKeys National Career Readiness Certificate.     --ACT Scholarship Giveaway - 10th and 11th graders can register for a chance to win a $40,000 scholarship and a $5,000 tech package when you register to take the aCT test. Test dates that are included: April 13, June 8, July 13, 2019. Students should "opt-in" to participate in the scholarship giveaway when prompted during registration.     --African American Network-Carolinas Scholarship Fund - The AAN-C Scholarship Fund stems from the African American Network, which is a resource group of African American employees at Duke Energy. As a part of its mission, the African American Network-Carolinas Chapter provides scholarships to college-bound students from North and South Carolina who are pursuing a major in engineering, math, science, computer science, accounting, finance, or business administration.     --Alpha Delta Kappa Scholarships - Four $2000 scholarships are given to students each year: The Eunice Riggins Memorial Scholarship; The Mary Rose Mills-Linda Rankin Memorial Scholarship; The Clare Johnson Marley-Mary Earle Berger Fine Arts Scholarship; The NC Alpha Delta Kappa Student Achievement Scholarship.     --Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Chi Iota Omega Chapter Scholarship -  Applicants must be high school seniors planning to attend an institution of higher learning on a full-time basis for the 2019-20 school year. Applications must be returned with a typed letter of interest, a letter of recommendation, and a copy of the current transcript.     --BBB Torch Scholarship - Eleven scholarship prizes totaling $20,000 will be offered. To be eligible, students must submit a short video giving insight into who they are and what makes them unique, along with an application and transcript.     --Black Business Expo Scholarship Application - Scholarship is designed to help students who are interested in Technology, Entrepreneurship, Journalism, Hospitality, Public Relations, Marketing, Merchandising, and Advertising.     --Camp Lejeune Officers' Spouses' Club 2019 Scholarship for Spouses & Graduating Seniors - The scholarship is available to graduating high school seniors and spouses who are dependents of active duty military of all ranks and services who work on board the Camp Lejeune area bases.     --Campbell University Teaching Scholars Academy - Are you a senior who would like to be a teaching scholar? Students must major in Education with Teacher Licensure, have an unweighted GPA of 3.5 or higher, have a minimum ACT score of 24 or SAT score of 1170, submit a writing sample, be an upcoming 1st semester freshmen, reside on campus, have two letters of recommendation, have proof of 25 service hours, and complete an interview with the Teaching Scholars Committee.     --Charles R. Ullman & Associates Scholarship Essay Contest - For eligibilty criteria and to access the application, students may visit www.charlesullman.com/scholarship-essay-contest  Deadline to apply is April 15, 2019. CLOSED

    --Criminal Justice Fellows Program - The NC Dept. of Justice is now accepting applications for the new Criminal Justice Fellows Program for eligible students intending to enroll in a NC Community College associate degree program for Fall 2019. The program will offer forgivable educational loans for high school seniors and graduates who agree to enter a criminal justice profession in an eligible county in NC. Students who receive the educational loan would have 5 years to repay, though it would be forgiven if they enter and remain in a criminal justice profession within NC for four years in an eligible county.     --College Board Scholarship Opportunities - Two opportunites with upcoming deadlines are included:

       ~UNCF STEM Scholars Program - Administered by the United Negro College Fund, this scholarship is open to African American high school students who aspire to earn STEM degrees and pursue careers in STEM fields.        ~Cobell Scholarship - Administered by Indigenous Education, Inc, this scholarship is awarded to tribally enrolled American Indian and Alaska Native students. Students must have a competitive GPA and plan to attend college full time at a public or private nonprofit institution.     --Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Duplin County Alumnae Chapter Scholarship - $500 scholarship available to Duplin County seniors with a 2.75 GPA or higher.     --Distinguished Young Women Scholarship Competition - If you are a girl in the Class of 2019, involved in school and/or community activities, outstanding in academics, leadership, athletics, and the arts, and interested in earning scholarships for college, this program is for you.     --Dixie Softball, Inc - Applicant must be a senior in high school and must have participated in a Dixie Softball program for at least two seasons. Applications must be postmarked by February 1st. Scholarship can be downloaded: Dixie Softball  CLOSED

    --Dixie Youth Baseball, Inc  - Application is due on or before February 1st. Applicant must be a senior in high school and must have participated in a Dixie Youth Baseball program when twelve years old or younger. Scholarship can be downloaded: Dixie Youth Baseball  CLOSED

    --Douglass High School Alumni Association - Available for students who attend James Kenan High School, North Duplin Jr/Sr, and Duplin Early College High School. Criterion for student selection will be based on reference letters, GPA, and involvement in community service activities. Applications are due by April 26, 2019. Douglass HS Alumni Assn CLOSED 

    --Duplin County Cattlemen's Association 2019 Scholarship - The Duplin County Cattleman's Assn. is accepting scholarship applications. The scholarship is open to graduating seniors from Duplin County who plan to attend either a two year or four year institution in an agriculture related field of study. The application is due no later than Monday, April 15, 2019. At least one $500 scholarship will be awarded. The award check will be made out to the institution and will be presented to the student during the Association's meeting on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at 6:30pm. Duplin Co Cattlemen Scholarship CLOSED 

    --Duplin County Education Foundation Scholarships -  The Duplin County Education Foundation awards the following scholarships to graduating seniors in Duplin County Schools each year.  The scholarship awards are given at the annual M. Austin Carter Academic Awards Celebrations.  All student applicants are asked to be present at the celebration on May 13, 2019.     --Elon University Odyssey Program - The Elon University Odyssey Program is a merit-based program for academically strong, civically engaged students who display significant financial need. It is awarded to prospective members of the first-year student class at Elon.     --Farm Bureau Scholarships - Three separate scholarships offered by Duplin County Farm Bureau are attached. Students who are planning to pursue a career in agriculture are strongly encouraged to apply for these scholarships. The deadline to have scholarships turned in to Erica Jones at BOE is Friday, February 22, 2019 by 5:00pm.     --Fourth Circuit Clerk's Office High School Essay Contest - The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit is seeking submissions for its 2019 essay contest. Students are invited to consider and share their thoughts on the question: "How has the right to freedom of speech established for public school students in the Supreme Court case of Tinker v. Des Moines evolved in the 50 years since it was decided?" The contest is open to all students in grades 9-12. Essays are limited to 1,000 words and must be submitted by April 15, 2019.     --Gobbles & Grunts Chapter Scholarship - Guiding Kids in God's Creation is a nonprofit organization founded in Duplin Co. created to introduce kids to the outdoors and the love of God. They offer a onetime scholarship valued at $1,000 to one male and one female student. To qualify, students must be a senior, have a 3.0 GPA or higher, be involved in church and have a love of the outdoors. Students must provide a reference letter from a church official and a school official. Applications must be received on or before June 1st.     --Golden Leaf Scholarship Program - To be eligible, a student must: Be a NC resident, be a high school senior enrolling full-time as a first year student at any participating NC college or university for the fall of 2019, have an eligible EFC determined by the FAFSA, have a GPA of no less than 3.0, be a resident of a rural county that is economically distressed and/or tobacco dependent (Duplin is included).     --GOODNIGHT SCHOLARS PROGRAM - The Goodnight Scholars Program is NCSU's premier scholarship program for low and middle income NC high school STEM students. It is a $20,000 scholarship per year and is renewable for up to four years for first year students. For more information, students can go to GOODNIGHT SCHOLARS Deadline to apply is January 15, 2019. Students must first apply to NCSU by November 1, 2018. Self-nomination is open from Oct 15-Dec1! CLOSED

    --Grow Your Own Duplin County Minority Teacher Scholarship-Loan - The Duplin County Minority Teachers Scholarship-Loan is open to current Duplin County Schools graduating seniors accepted for college admission. Those interested in becoming teachers supported by the scholarship must be legal residents of Duplin County. Only applicants with a 3.0 GPA and a valid documentation of community college or university acceptance will be interviewed by a local panel of educators and community leaders.     --Horatio Alger National Career & Technical Scholarship Program - Receive up to $2500 to pursue career and technical education. To be eligible, applicants must be enrolling in a two year career or technical degree/certificate program in the Fall that will lead to employment. Priority deadline is June 15, 2019.     --Horatio Alger Scholarship Application Information - The eligibility criteria include being enrolled as a full time high school senior interested in a bachelor's degree at an accredited non-profit public or private institution in the US, be in critical financial need ($55,000 or lower family income), involvement in community service activities, display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity, maintain a 2.0 GPA, and be a US Citizen.     --House Method Scholarship - This scholarship awards $1,000 toward the education of a student committed to bettering our lives in our homes. The deadline to apply is October 15, 2019.  https://housemethod.com/scholarships/ 

    --House of Raeford Scholarship Program  - Applicants to the House of Raeford Farms Scholarship Program must: be dependent children and grandchildren, age 26 and under, of full-time employees who have a minimum of one year of employment with House of Raeford Farms or an affiliate; be high school seniors or graduates who plan to enroll or students who are already enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or graduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational technical school for the entire upcoming academic year; have a minimum GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale.     --Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) Scholarship - The HSF Scholarship is designed to aid students of Hispanic heritage in their pursuit of a college degree. Scholarships are available to high school seniors, undergraduate students, graduate students, and community college students transferring to a four year university. Awards are merit based for students who demonstrate financial need. Students can apply at HSF.net/scholarship Deadline to apply is February 15, 2019. CLOSED

     --Jack Kent Cooke College Scholarship - The Jack Kent Cooke College Scholarship seeks out underrepresented students of all races, backgrounds, and ethnicities through the PSAT/NMSQT. The application deadline is November 20th. To apply, students should visit https://www.jkcf.org/our-scholarships/college-scholarship-program/how-to-apply/ CLOSED

    --JSCC Foundation Academic Scholarships - In order to be eligible for consideration, all scholarship applicants must submit the following information to the JSCC Scholarship Committee:  A completed scholarship application, 2 completed scholarship reference forms, high school transcript, a completed JSCC enrollment application, and students must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA.     --JSCC Herring Scholarship - To be eligible for the JSCC Herring Scholarship, applicants must reside in Duplin County or the town of Mount Olive and be accepted for admission to JSCC. To be considered, applicants must submit a complete Herring Scholarship Application Package to the office of the JSCC Foundation at JSCC and complete the FAFSA. Applicnats must currently have and maintain a cumulative 2.5 GPA. JSCC Herring Scholarship  Application deadline is March 15, 2019. CLOSED

    --JSCC Presidential Scholarship - Thirty scholarships will be awarded for the upcoming school year. Students that have completed at least 3 CCP classes through JSCC and have a 3.0 unweighted GPA should consider applyiing. The scholarship covers JSCC tuition and fees for up to two years. Students should return the completed scholarship application to their school's scholarship counselor by May 1, 2019.  JSCC Presidential Scholarship CLOSED 

    --Kyle Byrd Memorial Scholarship - The NC JCI Senate offers a scholarship to graduating NC seniors. NC awards at least two $500 scholarships. Additionally, NC submits two applications to the US JCI Senate to participate in the national scholarship program.     --Lenoir Community College Scholarship Foundation - This is a universal application for potential scholarship recipients. It should be used to apply for scholarships to attend Lenoir Community College. In order for LCC to process your scholarship application, you must have an Application for Admission on file with the Admissions Office.      --Lenior Rhyne University Teaching Scholars Scholarship - Lenior Rhyne is currently recruiting exemplary high school seniors to receive this prestigious scholarship and develop the skills to become effective teacher leaders for our public schools.     --Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation - Applicants must be the child of a marine. Applications are due March 1, 2019. For more information, students should visit www.mcsf.org/apply CLOSED

    --Marine Federal Credit Union Scholarship - 10 deserving high school seniors in 2019 will be awarded a scholarship. To qualify: Student must be a graduating high school senior, applicant or parent must be a member of Marine FCU, applicant must have SAT or ACT score, and must have a minimum 3.0 GPA.     --Mary J. Szczepanski "Never Give Up" MS Scholarship Foundation - The foundation offers 10 annual scholarships valued at $1,000 to USA high school and college students who raise funds for MS research.     --NAACP Scholarship for Duplin County - Students should be a current member of the Duplin Co. NAACP. The student should be a current senior at a Duplin Co. High School or Early College High School, or a current senior who is active in the Duplin Co. NAACP who does not attend a Duplin Co. school. Complete application packages should be in the hands of the scholarship committee member by 5:00pm on Monday, April 29, 2019. This does not mean in the mail or the counselor's office.     --National Beta Scholarship Program - To apply, students must be a member of the National Beta Club. Students will need their membership ID, which can be found on their membership card, ACT/SAT scores, and a copy of their high school transcript. The applications can be found by visiting: scholarship.betaclub.org  Deadline to apply is January 24, 2019. CLOSED

     --NC A&T State University Cheatham-White Scholarship - This scholarship provides an outstanding educational experience for students who are exceptional scholars, versatile, and well-rounded individuals. To be eligible, a senior must be a US citizen or permanent resident, have a 4.0 GPA; have a minimum SAT score of 1280 or ACT score of 28; show exceptional qualities of character and leadership; be significantly involved in extracurricular activities; and demonstrate a strong commitment to service. Students can discuss nomination with their school counselors or go to https://www.ncat.edu/academics/honors/cheatham-white/index.html to self-nominate. Nominations must be turned in by November 15th, along with an application to NC A&T, and the Cheatham-White application must be submitted by December 15th.      --NC Cattlemen's Foundation Scholarship - The NC Cattlemen's Foundation is accepting applications for their scholarship program until January 15th. They will be awarding scholarships of up to $3,000 annually. Students should have an interest and/or career plans in agriculture, with additional recognition for students whose field of study is related to some area of agriculture, particularly the cattle industry.     --NC Child Support Countil Scholarship - The 2019 NCCSC Scholarship application is now available. The scholarship is available to all NC residents who have been accepted by a NC school of higher learning: a college, university, community college, or technical school. In addition, at least one parent must be a member of the NCCSC, or a client of the Child Support Program (through either Child Support Services or Clerk of Court Services).     --NCCF Disaster Relief & Resilience Scholarship - Eligible students are attending or planning to attend an institution of higher learning in the immediately following year and resided in areas impacted by Hurricanes Florence or Matthew. Applicants will be considered based on the severity of the impact of the disaster on their lives, their financial need, and how they have demonstrated resilience in overcoming obstacles related to the disaster.     --NC Division of Veterans Affairs Scholarship - Children of disabled, deceased, combat, or POW/MIA war veterans: You may be eligible for a scholarship. For more information, go to https://www.milvets.nc.gov/benefits/education-scholarships  Deadline to apply is February 28, 2019. CLOSED

    --NC Extension & Community Assn. Scholarship - The purpose of the scholarship is to assist students in obtaining a degree at any NC college, in any field of study, with priority given to Family and Consumer Sciences. The application must be completed and returned by February 1, 2019. NC Extension & Comm.     --NC Federation of Republican Women Scholarship - Pat C. Smith, President of the 2,000 member NC Federation of Republican Women, announced a $1,000 merit based scholarship to an accredited NC college, vocational, or technical school. Eligible recipients should be a NC high school senior and be either 1.) a dependent child of an NC service member wounded or killed while serving in a combat zone from September 11, 2001 until the present OR 2.) one whose military sponsor was an NC resident at the time of service.     --NC House District 21 Scholarship - Any high school senior enrolled in a traditional high school in NC House District 21 (Sampson, Duplin, Wayne) who has been accepted for undergraduate work to an accredited postsecondary institution is eligible to apply. Priority consideration will be given to any applicant who has distinguished him or herself in community affairs and citizenship. Deadline to apply is April 30, 2019.     --NC Pork Council ScholarshipsTo be eligible, an applicant must be an undergraduate or incoming freshman at either the community college or university level with preference given to students attending a community college or university within the state of North Carolina. The applicant must also be enrolled as a full-time student in an agricultural curriculum of study.Students who have a strong desire to remain active in the swine production industry after graduation; who are actively engaged in swine production; or an applicant whose parents or other family members are actively engaged in the North Carolina swine industry will be given preference by the selection committee.     --NC Poultry Jubilee Scholarship - 1. Must be in your last year of high school. 2. Reside or attend school in one of the following counties in North Carolina: Duplin, Pender, Sampson, Wayne, Lenoir, Jones or Onslow. 3. Write and submit an essay on the provided topic. 4. Provide 2 references with one being from a teacher or counselor 5. Perform an interview with a poultry farmer. 6. You must exhibit good moral character.     --NC Society of Accountants Scholarship Foundation - The NC Society of Accountants Scholarship Foundation is a non-profit organization established in 1970 to provide scholarships for deserving students who indicate a desire to enter the profession of Accounting. Scholarship awards will be in the amount of $750 each. Applications are due by April 15, 2019. NC Society of Accountants CLOSED 

    --NCHSAA Endowed Fund Scholarships - Thanks to the generosity of many donors, the NCHSAA Endowed Fund offers several scholarships to eligible student-athletes of NCHSAA member schools.     --NCSU Centennial Scholarship Endorsement - The Centennial Scholarship Program is designed for students who are interested in career fields such as engineering, business management, design, chemistry, polymers, forensics, medical fields, fashion merchandising and retail management. Competitive applicants demonstrate high academic achievement, strong leadership qualities, involvement in extracurricular activities and civic engagement and an interest in textile-related careers. For scholarship consideration, students must have submitted a NCSU application by the October 15 deadline. If interested in endorsement, please speak to your high school counselor. Counselors must endorse by November 15. CLOSED

     --North Carolina Scholarship for Children of Wartime Veterans - Over 20,000 scholarships have been awarded to children of North Carolina veterans. North Carolina’s Scholarship Program was created to show its appreciation for the services and sacrifices of its war veterans. The scholarship program applies to North Carolina schools. The scholarship is for eight academic semesters and the recipient has eight years to utilize the eight academic semesters. The Scholarship program has been established for the qualifying natural or an adopted child (if adopted before the age of 15) children of certain class categories of deceased, disabled, combat, or POW/MIA veterans. Applicant must be under the age of 25 at the time of application. The veteran’s qualifying criteria must have occurred during a period of war. At time of application, applicant must be domiciled and a resident of North Carolina. The deadline to apply is February 14. CLOSED
