    Scholarship Opportunities:

    --College Board Opportunity Scholarships - The class of 2020 is eligible to earn College Board Opportunity Scholarships. This program will guide students through the college planning process, with a chance to earn scholarship money along the way. Each scholarship is open during different months, so make sure students keep track of their progress!     --Creative Masonry LLC Scholarships - Scholarships are available to anyone and are worth $500. Students who are interested in pursuing a career in construction management or any trade certification should especially apply. 
    Deadline to apply for both scholarships is Dec. 1st. 
    --Gates Scholarship - Phase I of the Gates Scholarship application opens July 15 and closes September 15, 2019. The Gates Scholarship is a highly selective, last-dollar scholarship for Pell-eligible high school seniors. Scholars will receive funding for the full cost of attendance that is not already covered by other financial aid and the and the EFC, as determined by the FAFSA. Students must be: US Citizen, Pell eligible, considered a minority student, and have a minimum GPA of 3.3. Website: www.thegatesscholarship.org 
    --Horatio Alger CTE Scholarships - The Horatio Alger Association honors the achievements of outstanding individuals in our society who have succeeded in spite of adversity and who are committed to supporting young people in pursuit of increased opportunities through higher education.     --NCHSAA Endowed Fund Scholarships - Thanks to the generosity of many donors, the NCHSAA Endowed Fund offers several scholarships to eligible student athletes of NCHSAA member schools. These scholarships provide financial assistance for student athletes who further their education at a college or university.     --North Carolina Tour Guide Scholarship - Sponsored through thezebra.com insurance. Information can be found on the following website: https://www.thezebra.com/north-carolina-car-insurance/#ticket-cost  Deadline to apply is December 31, 2019. 
    --Questridge National College Match - QuestBridge is a nationally recognized nonprofit that has helped thousands of students gain admission and full four-year scholarships to top college through the National College Match. High achieving, low income students should apply. The deadline for students to apply is September 26, 2019. Website: apply.questbridge.org 
    --Sleep Scholarships! These scholarships are related to sleep health, people with sleep disorders, dreaming, sleep science, and health and wellness. https://www.mattressadvisor.com/sleep-scholarships/ 
    --Sober Partners College Scholarship - Sober Partners is excited to offer a $1000 college scholarship. Their mission is to bring awareness to students and their families about the dangers of alcohol and drug abuse as we enter higher education and remind them that it can happen to anyone.     --Thomas Wolfe Scholarship (UNC-CH)- Scholarship for writers who want to attend UNC-CH. Applications will be accepted September 1-Nov 15.     --United States Senate Youth Program (USSYP) The United States Senate Youth Program is a scholarship program that provides an educational opportunity for juniors and seniors interested in pursuing college coursework in history or political science.  Student delegates winning the $10,000 scholarship and attending the week-long event in Washington, D.C. March will hear major policy addresses by Senators, cabinet members and directors from other federal agencies.  
    • North Carolina applications will be available August 1 through October 6, 2019. 
    • Deadline for submission is 11:59 p.m. Sunday, October 6, 2019.

    --Veterans of Foreign Wars Scholarship Programs - Scholarship programs are included for middle school and high school students. Prizes and scholarships are awarded at the local, district, state, and national levels. The deadline for the high school "Voice of Democracy" and middle school "Patriot's Pen" programs is midnight, October 31, 2019.
