NATIONAL MERIT & NEED-BASED SCHOLARSHIPS

State scholarships are awarded to eligible students in all fifty states and the District of Columbia. The program specifically assists high school students who have faced and overcome great obstacles in their young lives. The scholarships are funded by Horatio Alger Members who, like the Scholars, have experienced challenges but ultimately overcame them to become successful business and civic leaders.

The Career & Technical Scholarship Program is funded through the generosity of Horatio Alger Association Members, Dennis R. Washington and Jim F. Dicke II. Scholarships are awarded to students who have faced and overcome great obstacles in their lives who wish to pursue a career or technical education at an accredited non-profit post-secondary institution in the United States. The Association offers several scholarship programs that either require an applicant to pursue a specific degree or attend a specific university. SME Education Foundation scholarships are funded by SME, by generous individuals, and by philanthropic organizations that share our goal of inspiring, preparing and supporting the next generation of manufacturing and engineering talent. Automotive Women’s Alliance Foundation Scholarship (AWAF)

The Automotive Women’s Alliance Foundation (AWAF) is an active professional foundation dedicated to supporting the advancement of automotive and mobility industry professionals.
Scholarships are selected by the Scholarship Committee and awarded quarterly to the women with a quest and drive for the automotive, mobility and related industries. It is our hope that with these scholarships, we can lessen the burden on students and allow them to focus on gaining knowledge and further development toward a solid career path in this ever-evolving expansion of global mobility.
Scholarships are awarded to females with North American citizenship and a passion for a career or advancement in the automotive, mobility and its related industries. U.S. Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) scholarships provide full financial assistance for college tuition and mandatory education fees (or room and board). Additionally, scholarship winners receive tax free subsistence allowance for up to 10 months a year at a rate of $420.00 per month and $1200 annually for textbooks, classroom supplies, and equipment. The Patsy Howard Memorial Scholarship is open to any Duplin or Pender County female student. A one time scholarship (non-renewable) in the amount of $500 will be awarded.
State Employees Credit Union (SECU) People Helping People Scholarship

SECU Foundation established the People Helping People four-year scholarship program to help North Carolina public high school students attend college. SECU Foundation takes an active role in assisting communities across North Carolina and truly believes in “People Helping People.” Each of the 115 North Carolina Local Education Agencies (“LEAs”)/School Districts will receive a minimum of one scholarship for a senior to attend one of the 16 constituent campuses of the University of North Carolina System.
Eligibilty Criteria:
- Current senior at a North Carolina public high school
- SECU member or eligible for membership through a parent/guardian,
- North Carolina resident and eligible for in-state tuition
- Accepted to attend one of the 16 UNC system universities as a full time undergraduate
- Demonstrated scholastic achievement with a 2.5 or higher unweighted GPA on a 4.0 scale
- Exhibited leadership, excellence of character, integrity, and community involvement
- Filed FAFSA as part of the application

The Master Trooper Benjamin Derek Wallace Memorial Foundation Is a Non-profit Organization Who Is Devoted to Honor the Memory of Trooper Wallace by Making a Difference in Our Community in Duplin County. Their Mission Is to Provide Financial Assistance by Way of Educational Scholarships to Deserving Students Who Have Been Identified As a Good Steward to Their Community. Two (2) Scholarships will be awarded to each Duplin High School in the amount of $1500.00 each. ($3000.00 per High School)

Marvin & Grace Johnson Poultry Science Scholarship Endowment (House of Raeford Farms Scholarship Hub)

Several years ago, House of Raeford Farms established a $250,000 endowment scholarship fund for the Poultry Science Department at NC State University. Called the “Marvin and Grace Johnson Poultry Science Scholarship Endowment,” it awards one or more scholarships to students attending NC State who are majoring in poultry science.
In addition, and in conjunction with our affiliates, we sponsor a scholarship program to support and encourage House of Raeford employees and contract farmers with dependent children and grandchildren who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school. Each scholarship is awarded for full-time or part-time study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice. Guidelines and application forms are available here.
Finally, at a music academy in Rose Hill, NC, we provide scholarships for gifted young people in need. Children of some of our local Duplin County, NC employees have benefited from this opportunity.

Duplin County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Scholarship

The Golden LEAF Community College Scholarship provides scholarships of up to $2,250 annually to curriculum students and up to $1850 annually to workforce continuing education students.
