    *There will be a scholarship workshop entitled "Tips for getting FREE money for college" on Saturday, January 18th from 10:00am-Noon @ Mt. Olive AME Church in Wilmington, NC (1001 South 7th St.) There will also be information from College Foundation of North Carolina (cfnc), Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and Zeta Centennial Scholarship.     --African American Network Carolinas Scholarship - The African American Network is a Duke Energy employee resource group of African American employees. To apply, students must meet the following criteria: Graduating senior of a NC high school; must attend a 4 year college or university located in NC; must plan to major in engineering, computer science, the sciences, accounting, finance, or business administration.     --APIA Scholarship - The APIA Scholarship is open to Asian and Pacific Islander American students who will be enrolling or are currently enrolled in a U.S. accredited college or university as a degree-seeking undergraduate student in the fall of 2020. This year's application opened on September 4th and will close on January 22, 2020.     --Better Business Bureau (BBB) Torch Scholarship - The BBB Torch Scholarship Program recognizes students who  personify high ethical standards as demonstrated through leadership, community service, overall personal integrity, and academic success. Scholarships are awarded to college bound juniors and seniors, and college undergraduates. To be eligible, students must complete a short application and create a brief video giving insight into who they are. Applications must also include a transcript and a letter of recommendation from a BBB Accredited Business. Completed application packets are due by 4:30pm, February 14, 2020.     --Beirut Veterans of America Scholarship - This scholarship was created to always remember those American Service members whose lives were lost from the various conflicts in Beirut from 1958 to present.     --Bezos Scholars Program - Applicant's school must be a public high school in the United States (charter, magnet schools, and tribal schools through the Bureau of Indian Education are also eligible) and have a 30% or greater free and reduced lunch rate.  Applicant must:
      • Be a junior during the current academic year and a senior the following academic year.
      • Be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or have received DACA status.
      • Not attend one of the ineligible schools listed above.
      • Have a proven track record of demonstrated leadership in their school and/or community.
      • Have taken and received scores for at least one of these tests: PSAT, SAT, ACT, or ACT Aspire.
      • Be enrolled in, or have taken, one or more Advanced Placement (AP) classes, International Baccalaureate (IB) classes, or college-level courses.
      • Be available to fully participate in the year-long program and attend all dates for the Aspen Ideas Festival trip in Aspen, Colorado: June 27 - July 3, 2020. We apologize in advance, but no exceptions for late arrival or early departure (barring an emergency) can be made.

    --College Board Opportunity Scholarships - The class of 2020 is eligible to earn College Board Opportunity Scholarships. This program will guide students through the college planning process, with a chance to earn scholarship money along the way. Each scholarship is open during different months, so make sure students keep track of their progress!     --Creative Masonry LLC Scholarships - Scholarships are available to anyone and are worth $500. Students who are interested in pursuing a career in construction management or any trade certification should especially apply.

    --Dream.US - TheDream.US is the nations's largest college access and success program for immigrant youth with DACA or TPS Status, or that meet TheDream.USimmigration eligibility criteria.     --Duplin County Cattlemen's Assn. Agriculture Related Scholarship Program - The scholarship is open to graduating seniors from Duplin County who plan to attend either a 2 year or 4 year institution in an agriculture related field of study.     --Duplin County Education Foundation Scholarships - The Duplin County Education Foundation awards scholarships to graduating seniors in Duplin County Schools each year. All scholarships are listed on the DCS website. The link is provided below. The online portal will close for students on March 2, 2020. (If students are having any technical difficulaties, they need to let their counselor know immediately. Please do not wait until the last minute to fill out applications in case there are technical issues!) The scholarship awards are given at the annual M.     --Duplin County NAACP Scholarship - Students should be current members of the Duplin County NAACP (Branch or Youth C ouncil); should be a current senior at a Duplin County High School; or a current senior who is active in the Duplin County NAACP (Branch or Youth Council) who does not attend a Duplin County High School. The student should plan to enroll as a full-time student at an accredited 4 year or 2 year college/university working toward a Bachelor of Associate Degree.     --Elevate Mental Health Awareness Scholarship - The scholarship is designed to inspire greater awareness about mental health and fuel innovative solutions that help the millions of people who are suffering.     --Gardner Webb University Tucker Heart, Soul, Mind, and Strength Scholarship will reward an incoming first year student who exemplifies living by the compassionate principles and Christian values highlighted in Mark 12:30. Students must be nominated by their counselor.     --Gates Scholarship - Phase I of the Gates Scholarship application opens July 15 and closes September 15, 2019. The Gates Scholarship is a highly selective, last-dollar scholarship for Pell-eligible high school seniors. Scholars will receive funding for the full cost of attendance that is not already covered by other financial aid and the and the EFC, as determined by the FAFSA.     --Girls Go CyberStart - A free, online, cybersecurity competition for girls in high school grades 9-12. Students will compete against other students from around the country to earn scholarship money and prizes. They might even discover a new passion for computer science and cybersecurity!     --Goodnight Scholars Program @ NCSU - Prospective candidates who plan to major in a STEM or education discipline at NCSU and reside in a NC household w/ a pre-tax annual gross income (AGI) of less than $110,000 are eligible to potentially receive an invitation to apply to the Goodnight Scholars Program.     --Greenhouse Scholars Whole Person Program - This program is designed to provide a well-balanced support system during college. Becoming a Greenhouse Scholar means students will get the support they need throughout their time in teh program to start a ripple that will create change in their community. The deadline for Part I of the application is November 22, 2019. Early applications are encouraged as there is a Part II application due December 2, 2019.     --Jack Kent Cooke College Scholarship Program - An undergraduate scholarship program available to high-achieving high school seniors whith financial need who seek to attend and graduate from the nation's best four-year colleges and universities.     --JSCC Foundation Scholarship Application - The JSCC Foundation is now accepting scholarship applications for the upcoming 2020-21 academic year.     --JSCC Herring Scholarship Application - Selection of the Herring Scholarship recipients will be based on financial need, letters of recommendation and personal essays.     --JSCC Presidential Scholarship - Students must have filled out a JSCC application for enrollment in Fall 2020, complete a 2020-21 FAFSA and submit to JSCC, have an unweighted 3.0 GPA, be a U.S. citizen, and completed three or more JSCC CCP classes with a C or better grade.     --NCHSAA Endowed Fund Scholarships - Thanks to the generosity of many donors, the NCHSAA Endowed Fund offers several scholarships to eligible student athletes of NCHSAA member schools.     --North Carolina Criminal Justice Fellows Program - The CJFP provides forgivable educational loans for high school seniors and graduates who agree to enter an eligible criminal justice profession in an eligible county in NC. The program is looking for high school seniors and graduates in the community that have exhibited high academic achievement, a history of service to the school and community, and a desire to serve the state of NC in a field withing the criminal justice system profession.     --Norwich University Scholarships & Awards - (For students interested in a college that prepares for the military) Academic scholarships are awarded on a funds-available basis, at the time of admission, based on previous academic performance.     --Ron Brown Scholarship - African American high school seniors are encourage to apply for the Ron Brown Scholarship by either the early deadline of November 1, 2019 (CLOSED) or the regular deadline of January 9, 2020. The Ron Brown Scholar Program offers a $40,000 scholarship to up to 30 African American high school seniors each year based on academic excellence and commitment to public service.     --Scholar Snapp - Students can use their CommonApp information to easily apply for scholarships. Once students submit applications through the CommonApp, they will be able to creat a Scholar Snapp profile. They will be guided to connect their accounts so information can be transferred from the CommonApp application to their new Scholar Snapp profile. To connect: 1.)     --The Last House College Scholarship - The Last House Sober Living is offering $1000 in financial aid to the winner of their first annual scholarship. Students who have been impacted by addiction are especially encouraged to apply.     --Thomas Wolfe Scholarship (UNC-CH)- Scholarship for writers who want to attend UNC-CH. Applications will be accepted September 1-Nov 15.     --UMO Herring Scholarship - The purpose of the Herring Scholarship is to provide support for the identified financial needs of a diverse spectrum of students who demonstrate good citizenship, high moral character, and potential for leadership. To  be eligible, students must reside within the city limits of Mount Olive or Duplin County, NC and be accepted for admission to UMO. Deadline to apply is April 3, 2020.     --UMO Women's Soccer Manager Scholarship - Are you interested in attending UMO and have an interest in the new student manager scholarship position for the women's soccer team? The position starts at $1500 per year and is increased $500 for every year of service.     --UNC Asheville University Scholars Program - The University Scholars Program provides students the best possible opportunity to acquire the skills, knowledge, and understanding necessary to pursue their goals and take their places as leaders and contributing citizens in a changing society. The main criteria for selection include academic accomplishment and demonstrated leadership. Students must be nominated by their counselors no later than January 10th.     --UNC Guarantee Scholars Program - The UNCG Guarantee Scholars Program is now accepting applications for the 2020-21 school year. This program provides its participants an outstanding financial aid package that minimizes student debt, out of the classroom community learning experiences, and personalized support through mentorship.     --UNCW Soar Ambassador Scholarship Program: For recently admitted high performing students from low socio-economic backgrounds.     --United States Senate Youth Program (USSYP) The United States Senate Youth Program is a scholarship program that provides an educational opportunity for juniors and seniors interested in pursuing college coursework in history or political science.  Student delegates winning the $10,000 scholarship and attending the week-long event in Washington, D.C. March will hear major policy addresses by Senators, cabinet members and directors from other federal agencies.

    --Veterans of Foreign Wars Scholarship Programs - Scholarship programs are included for middle school and high school students. Prizes and scholarships are awarded at the local, district, state, and national levels. The deadline for the high school "Voice of Democracy" and middle school "Patriot's Pen" programs is midnight, October 31, 2019.     --Victor E. Bell, Jr Scholarship Program (7th grade students) - This scholarship has been established to encourage high potential students with limited financial resources to aspire to a college education. Students must be nominated by their school counselor and applications must be mailed by October 18th. The program is devoted to increasing the number of underrepresented minorities in the accounting field with emphasis placed on preparing students for entry level positions in the acounting profession.
