    --ACT College & Career Readiness Champions - Applications are open for the ACT Student Champion Award! The ACT Student Champion Award recognizes one student in each state who is tenacious and persistent, no matter the challenge, and is prepared for life after high school with a goal in mind and a plan in place. ACT Student Champions receive a $500 non-renewable scholarship, certificate, and state-level recognition. To apply, students should be a HS Senior who has overcome challenges and can articulate their education and/or career actions; have a composite score of 22 on the ACT or a Gold ACT WorkKeys National Career Readiness Certificate.     --African American Network-Carolinas Scholarship Fund - The AAN-C Scholarship Fund stems from the African American Network, which is a resource group of African American employees at Duke Energy. As a part of its mission, the African American Network-Carolinas Chapter provides scholarships to college-bound students from North and South Carolina who are pursuing a major in engineering, math, science, computer science, accounting, finance, or business administration.     --Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Chi Iota Omega Chapter Scholarship -  Applicants must be high school seniors planning to attend an institution of higher learning on a full-time basis for the 2019-20 school year. Applications must be returned with a typed letter of interest, a letter of recommendation, and a copy of the current transcript.     --BBB Torch Scholarship - Eleven scholarship prizes totaling $20,000 will be offered. To be eligible, students must submit a short video giving insight into who they are and what makes them unique, along with an application and transcript.     --Black Business Expo Scholarship Application - Scholarship is designed to help students who are interested in Technology, Entrepreneurship, Journalism, Hospitality, Public Relations, Marketing, Merchandising, and Advertising.     --Charles R. Ullman & Associates Scholarship Essay Contest - For eligibilty criteria and to access the application, students may visit www.charlesullman.com/scholarship-essay-contest  Deadline to apply is April 15, 2019. 

    --Distinguished Young Women Scholarship Competition - If you are a girl in the Class of 2019, involved in school and/or community activities, outstanding in academics, leadership, athletics, and the arts, and interested in earning scholarships for college, this program is for you. Students can find out more information at www.DistinguishedYW.org or by emailing @DistinguishedYW.org. Duplin County students would qualify as "At Large."     --Dixie Softball, Inc - Applicant must be a senior in high school and must have participated in a Dixie Softball program for at least two seasons. Applications must be postmarked by February 1st. Scholarship can be downloaded: Dixie Softball

    --Dixie Youth Baseball, Inc  - Application is due on or before February 1st. Applicant must be a senior in high school and must have participated in a Dixie Youth Baseball program when twelve years old or younger. Scholarship can be downloaded: Dixie Youth Baseball

    --Duplin County Cattlemen's Association 2019 Scholarship - The Duplin County Cattleman's Assn. is accepting scholarship applications. The scholarship is open to graduating seniors from Duplin County who plan to attend either a two year or four year institution in an agriculture related field of study. The application is due no later than Monday, April 15, 2019. At least one $500 scholarship will be awarded. The award check will be made out to the institution and will be presented to the student during the Association's meeting on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at 6:30pm. Duplin Co Cattlemen Scholarship 

      --ECU Honors College  - The deadline to apply to East Carolina University (including test scores and HS transcript) in order to receive an invitation to apply to the Honors College is Sunday, Nov 11, 2018. The deadline to apply to the Honors College, once invited, is Sunday, December 2, 2018. To learn more about ECU Honors College Program, you may visit the campus for Honors College Academic Day on Friday, November 2nd, or visit http://www.ecu.edu/cs-acad/honors/ CLOSED

    --Elon University Odyssey Program - The Elon University Odyssey Program is a merit-based program for academically strong, civically engaged students who display significant financial need. It is awarded to prospective members of the first-year student class at Elon.     --Farm Bureau Scholarships - Three separate scholarships offered by Duplin County Farm Bureau are attached. Students who are planning to pursue a career in agriculture are strongly encouraged to apply for these scholarships. The deadline to have scholarships turned in to Erica Jones at BOE is Friday, February 22, 2019 by 5:00pm.     --Gates Scholarship- Eligible students must be: A high school senior; from a minority ethnic group; Pell-eligible; A US citizen, national, or permanent resident; have a minimum GPA of 3.3. Phase 1 of the application is due on Tuesday, September 18,2018. https://www.thegatesscholarship.org/scholarship CLOSED

    --GOODNIGHT SCHOLARS PROGRAM - The Goodnight Scholars Program is NCSU's premier scholarship program for low and middle income NC high school STEM students. It is a $20,000 scholarship per year and is renewable for up to four years for first year students. For more information, students can go to GOODNIGHT SCHOLARS Deadline to apply is January 15, 2019.     --Grow Your Own Duplin County Minority Teacher Scholarship-Loan - The Duplin County Minority Teachers Scholarship-Loan is open to current Duplin County Schools graduating seniors accepted for college admission. Those interested in becoming teachers supported by the scholarship must be legal residents of Duplin County. Only applicants with a 3.0 GPA and a valid documentation of community college or university acceptance will be interviewed by a local panel of educators and community leaders.     --Horatio Alger Scholarship Application Information - The eligibility criteria include being enrolled as a full time high school senior interested in a bachelor's degree at an accredited non-profit public or private institution in the US, be in critical financial need ($55,000 or lower family income), involvement in community service activities, display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity, maintain a 2.0 GPA, and be a US Citizen.     --Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) Scholarship - The HSF Scholarship is designed to aid students of Hispanic heritage in their pursuit of a college degree. Scholarships are available to high school seniors, undergraduate students, graduate students, and community college students transferring to a four year university. Awards are merit based for students who demonstrate financial need. Students can apply at HSF.net/scholarship Deadline to apply is February 15, 2019. 

     --Jack Kent Cooke College Scholarship - The Jack Kent Cooke College Scholarship seeks out underrepresented students of all races, backgrounds, and ethnicities through the PSAT/NMSQT. The application deadline is November 20th. To apply, students should visit https://www.jkcf.org/our-scholarships/college-scholarship-program/how-to-apply/ CLOSED

    --Kyle Byrd Memorial Scholarship - The NC JCI Senate offers a scholarship to graduating NC seniors. NC awards at least two $500 scholarships. Additionally, NC submits two applications to the US JCI Senate to participate in the national scholarship program.      --Lenior Rhyne University Teaching Scholars Scholarship - Lenior Rhyne is currently recruiting exemplary high school seniors to receive this prestigious scholarship and develop the skills to become effective teacher leaders for our public schools. Fall 2019 applications are being accepted now. Priority consideration will be given to students applying by January 10, 2019. High school seniors should apply at edu.lr.edu/teachingscholars CLOSED

    --Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation - Applicants must be the child of a marine. Applications are due March 1, 2019. For more information, students should visit www.mcsf.org/apply 

    --Mary J. Szczepanski "Never Give Up" MS Scholarship Foundation - The foundation offers 10 annual scholarships valued at $1,000 to USA high school and college students who raise funds for MS research. For more information, students can visit the following website: www.msscholarship.org  Information due April 1, 2019. 

    --NAACP Scholarship for Duplin County - Students should be a current member of the Duplin Co. NAACP. The student should be a current senior at a Duplin Co. High School or Early College High School, or a current senior who is active in the Duplin Co. NAACP who does not attend a Duplin Co. school. Complete application packages should be in the hands of the scholarship committee member by 5:00pm on Monday, April 29, 2019. This does not mean in the mail or the counselor's office.     --National Beta Scholarship Program - To apply, students must be a member of the National Beta Club. Students will need their membership ID, which can be found on their membership card, ACT/SAT scores, and a copy of their high school transcript. The applications can be found by visiting: scholarship.betaclub.org  Deadline to apply is January 24, 2019. 

     --NC A&T State University Cheatham-White Scholarship - This scholarship provides an outstanding educational experience for students who are exceptional scholars, versatile, and well-rounded individuals. To be eligible, a senior must be a US citizen or permanent resident, have a 4.0 GPA; have a minimum SAT score of 1280 or ACT score of 28; show exceptional qualities of character and leadership; be significantly involved in extracurricular activities; and demonstrate a strong commitment to service. Students can discuss nomination with their school counselors or go to https://www.ncat.edu/academics/honors/cheatham-white/index.html to self-nominate. Nominations must be turned in by November 15th, along with an application to NC A&T, and the Cheatham-White application must be submitted by December 15th.      --NC Cattlemen's Foundation Scholarship - The NC Cattlemen's Foundation is accepting applications for their scholarship program until January 15th. They will be awarding scholarships of up to $3,000 annually. Students should have an interest and/or career plans in agriculture, with additional recognition for students whose field of study is related to some area of agriculture, particularly the cattle industry.     --NC Child Support Countil Scholarship - The 2019 NCCSC Scholarship application is now available. The scholarship is available to all NC residents who have been accepted by a NC school of higher learning: a college, university, community college, or technical school. In addition, at least one parent must be a member of the NCCSC, or a client of the Child Support Program (through either Child Support Services or Clerk of Court Services). The deadline to apply is April 19, 2019. NC Child Support Council Scholarship

    --NC Extension & Community Assn. Scholarship - The purpose of the scholarship is to assist students in obtaining a degree at any NC college, in any field of study, with priority given to Family and Consumer Sciences. The application must be completed and returned by February 1, 2019. NC Extension & Comm.     --NCHSAA Endowed Fund Scholarships - Thanks to the generosity of many donors, the NCHSAA Endowed Fund offers several scholarships to eligible student-athletes of NCHSAA member schools.     --NCSU Centennial Scholarship Endorsement - The Centennial Scholarship Program is designed for students who are interested in career fields such as engineering, business management, design, chemistry, polymers, forensics, medical fields, fashion merchandising and retail management. Competitive applicants demonstrate high academic achievement, strong leadership qualities, involvement in extracurricular activities and civic engagement and an interest in textile-related careers. For scholarship consideration, students must have submitted a NCSU application by the October 15 deadline. If interested in endorsement, please speak to your high school counselor. Counselors must endorse by November 15. CLOSED

     --North Carolina Scholarship for Children of Wartime Veterans - Over 20,000 scholarships have been awarded to children of North Carolina veterans. North Carolina’s Scholarship Program was created to show its appreciation for the services and sacrifices of its war veterans. The scholarship program applies to North Carolina schools. The scholarship is for eight academic semesters and the recipient has eight years to utilize the eight academic semesters. The Scholarship program has been established for the qualifying natural or an adopted child (if adopted before the age of 15) children of certain class categories of deceased, disabled, combat, or POW/MIA veterans. Applicant must be under the age of 25 at the time of application. The veteran’s qualifying criteria must have occurred during a period of war. At time of application, applicant must be domiciled and a resident of North Carolina. The deadline to apply is February 14.

     In addition:

     Veteran parent was a legal resident of North Carolina at time of said veteran’s entrance into that period of service in the Armed Forces during which eligibility is established, 

    OR

     The applicant is the natural child or adopted child (if adopted before the age of 15) of an eligible veteran and the child/adopted child was born in North Carolina and has been a resident of North Carolina continuously since birth.

    --North Carolina Teaching Fellows Program Scholarship - Session Law 2017-57 authorized this merit-based, competitive, forgivable loans for service scholarship program. Eligible students must commit to teaching in a STEM or special education licensure area in a North Carolina district or charter school.       --QuestBridge - The 2018 QuestBridge National College Math for high school seniors is now open. The free, online application is due September 27, 2018. QuestBridge is a nationally recognized nonprofit that connects high-achieving, low-income students to full four-year scholarships at the nation's best colleges.      --Recovery Village Health Care Scholarship - A $1,000 award will be given to a student pursuing a health-related degree program. Areas of study that will be considered include, but are not limited to, counseling, social work, emergency medicine, pre-med, nursing, psychology (with a focus on addiction counseling or a substance-abuse related field). Applicants must submit an essay no more than 500 words describing why they are passionate about health care, with a focus on substance abuse and mental health.     --Savannah College of Art And Design (SCAD) Distinguished Scholars Award - This award for $20,000 per year is applied to tuition at any SCAD location, including online via SCAD eLearning. To be considered, students must be recommended by a teacher, professor, or counselor. Nominations and completed student application files, including transcript, official test scores, portfolio, and resume, must be received by Feb 1, 2019. Students can apply online at scad.edu/apply  Students should see their counselors for nomination information. 

    --SEANC Scholarship - Only SEANC members in good standing, their spouses and/or dependent child(ren) are eligible to receive scholarships. Membership in teachers' organizations or the SECU does n ot constitute eligibility for a SEANC Foundation Scholarship. The scholarship applications are available online at https://www.seanc.org/scholarship Deadline to apply is April 15, 2019. 

    --SECU People Helping People Scholarship - Students must be graduating from a public high school in the current academic year; students and/or their parents must be current members of SECU; students must be accepted at and attend one of the 16 constituent campuses of the UNC System; Students must be a U.S. Citizen and a NC resident; Students must exemplify the "People Helping People" philosophy of SECU and demonstrate leadership, excellence of character, integrity, and community involvement; students must demonstrate scholastic achievement with a maintained 2.5 or higher unweighted GPA on a 4.0 scale.     --Smithfield Hog Production Division-East Central Agricultural Scholarship 2019 - The scholarship is valued at $500 per year for four year university or two year community college provided the student continues to meet eligibility requirements. Applications are due to Smithfield Hog Production on or before April 1, 2019. Preference is given to students of Smithfield Hog Production Employees and Growers, and students who have participated in the Smithfield Hog Production Internship Program. To be eligible, students should intend to pursue a career in agriculture or an agriculture-related field, have at least a 2.5 GPA, have leadership potential, and understand agricultural and agribusiness through an agricultural pathway in school or related work experience.     --Tri County EMC Scholarship - Scholarships of $500 are awarded to students who will be attending a four year college; scholarships of $250 will be awarded to students who will be attending a community college. Students must be a high school graduating senior and must attend one of the following Duplin Co. Schools: East Duplin, James Kenan, North Duplin, DECHS which are in Tri County service areas. Application requirements are listed on the application.     --UMO Herring Scholarship - To be eligible for the Herring Scholarship, applicants must reside within the city limits of Mount Olive or Duplin County, North Carolina, and be accepted for admission to the University of Mount Olive. To be considered for the Herring Scholarship, applicants must submit a complete Herring Scholarship Application Package to the Office of Admissions at UMO and complete the FAFSA.      --UNC-CH Light on the Hill Society Scholarship - The Light on the Hill Society Scholarship will award ten scholarships to African-American students who will enroll at UNC-CH for the fall 2019. Students can apply at: alumni.unc.edu/loth  The application deadline is Sunday, March 3, 2019. 

     --UNC-CH THOMAS WOLFE SCHOLARSHIP - This is a program for gifted student writers interested in attending UNC-CH.     --UNC Charlotte Engineering Academic Pathways Scholarships  - These scholarships are for students who want to pursue a career in engineering, engineering technology or construction management and demonstrate a financial need based on FAFSA.       --UNCG Guarantee - The UNCG Guarantee Scholarship combines federal and state grants in addition to funds from private gifts to help scholars graduate from UNC Greensboro in four years with little or no debt. The financial package covers the standard estimated cost of attendance based on financial need. This includes tuition and fees, standard on-campus housing and other educational expenses. Students must be a NC resident eligible for FAFSA, have a 3.5-weighted GPA, and a composite SAT score of 1030 or Composite ACT score of 20. December 1 is the Priority Deadline to submit an Eligibility Screening.     --UNCG Teacher Education Fellows Scholarship & Enrichment Program - The UNCG Teacher Education Fellows Program awards a $20,000 scholarship distributed incrementally over four years of study at UNCG. To be eligible for participation in the UNCG Teacher Education Fellows Program, a student must be a NC resident and have a minimum 3.80 weighted GPA and a minimum SAT verbal and math score of 1170 or ACT composite score of 24.     --University of the Aftermarkets Foundation Scholarships - For students planning a career in the Automotive Aftermarket. The University of the Aftermarket Foundation and more than 40 additional organizations award automotive scholarships. Your one complete on-line application will automatically be considered by every organization where you meet their qualifications.      --Victor E Bell, Jr Scholarship Nominations - The College Foundation has established the Victor E. Bell, Jr Scholarship Program to encourage high potential students with limited financial resources to aspire to a college education. Counselors are allowed to nominate ONE seventh grader from his/her school as a potential Bell Scholarship recipient.     --We The Students Scholarship Opportunity - Students may participate in We The Students Essay Contest. Students must be between the ages of 14-19 to apply.       --Wendy's High School Heisman Scholarship - For student athletes! This year's winners from our school will compete for 100 scholarships, ranging from $500 to $5000, along with recognition at the state and national levels.     --Woodmen Life Scholarship - To be eligible, students must be a 2017, 2018, or 2019 high school graduate; plan to enroll in a full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two year or four year college; be a good-standing Woodmen Life member for a minimum of three years; be from a 100% Woodmen Life family.
