• Duplin County Schools have both standing orders and protocols in place for selected over-the-counter medications to be used as needed for students during the school day.  The OTC medicines which are available include:  Tylenol, Ibuprofen, Triple Antibiotic Ointment, Tums, Cough Drops, & Hydrocortisone Cream.  Parents may complete an Over-the-Counter Medication Authorization Form each school year indicating their permission for their child to participate in this program.   School nurses may asses your child's needs on a case by case basis to try to identify appropriate comfort measures or interventions that may be used prior to medication being administered.  Please note that the use of Tylenol or Ibuprofen is limited to three doses in a one month period and a doctor's evaluation may be recommended for students who are requesting to take analgesics more frequently.
