Course Description
Welcome to World History! This semester we will be studying the history of our world from ancient times up to the present day. As freshmen, you are getting closer to entering “the real world.” As such, you will be responsible both for your actions and inactions. As your teacher, I am responsible for assisting your success. It is my sincere desire to work alongside you and make this as productive a semester as possible.

ASSIGNMENT WEIGHTS

- 3 project per quarter
- 1 full-length written assignment per quarter

ZEROS & MAKE-UP WORK
Projects, Essay, Homework & Classwork
- Work that is turned in on time will receive a grade no lower than a 50.
- Late work will be accepted up until 5 days before the end of the grading period. (First 9 weeks and Second 9 weeks.)

TESTS
- Students who are absent on the day of a test will have 5 days to make up the test. If the student does not make up the test within that time the student will receive a 0 for the test. If the teacher thinks the individual situation of the student warrants more time to make up the test the teacher will work with the student to make another arrangement to make up the test.
RETEST
- Any test can be retaken as long as all the required classwork has been completed.

Rules
- Come to class PREPARED everyday!!!
(i.e. homework assignments completed and materials brought to class.)
- Respect ME, your CLASSMATES, and YOURSELF.
- Do not interfere with the RIGHT of others to get an education.

Cell Phone Rules
Cell Phone/iPod Expectations:
- Use the your cell phone/iPod at appropriate times.
- Volume will be turned off at all times when in use.
- No cell phone will be visible useless instructed.
- It is everyone's responsibility to report inappropriate use by a peer to the teacher.
- You will not text, surf the Internet, play games, or use other apps. on your cell phone. You will only use it to listen to music, research information, and educational activities.
Consequences:
1st offense: verbal warning
2nd offense: lose iPod/cell phone up for the class period
3rd offense: lose iPod/cell phone privileges for 5 days and call parent/guardian
4th offense: lose iPod/cell phone privileges for the rest of the 9 weeks
*Mr. Parker reserves the right to enact more consequences as needed including a referral to the administration.

Procedures
- Tardies – In this class, students are to be in the classroom by the end of the bell. If you are not in the room when the bell rings, you are considered tardy.
- Consequences for student tardiness:
- 1st Offense : Verbal Warning
- 2nd Offense: Verbal Warning and Attendance calls home.
- 3rd Offense: Parent ConnectEd AND SPARTA Lunch Detention.
- Absences - SCHOOL POLICY
- Getting Started – Most mornings there will be a warm up activity for you to do. During this time I expect every student to try their best on the assignment. By the end of warm up activity everyone should have their class materials out. We will be use a class set of books each day, when entering pick up a book off my cart and carry it to your desk.
- Progress reports and Report cards – Progress reports are sent out every 3 weeks. Each progress report is expected to be returned in a reasonable time. Report cards will be sent out every nine weeks.
- Bathrooms – Students are expected to use the bathroom before they have entered into the classroom. If the student has an emergency they may ask to go.
- Leaving Class – Students will stay in their seats until the bell rings. As students are leaving they are to place their copy of the textbook back on the cart.
