A Little About Ms. McMahon

Hello!  I am Lauren McMahon and this is my eleventh year of teaching.   I graduated from East Carolina University in 2011 with my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and again in 2019 with my Master's Degree in Elementary Education.  I am licensed to teach Elementary Education K-6 and Reading K-12 in the state of North Carolina.  My future plans involve becoming an educational leader in our district.
I've always wanted to be a teacher and my favorite part of teaching is the relationships I build with students each year. I am a product of Duplin County Schools.  I attended Beulaville Elementary and East Duplin High School.  I love that I am able to teach in the community I was raised in.

Teaching Philosophy

My teaching philosophy involves two important beliefs:
1.  I believe in building solid relationships with my students.  I care about my students as people first and students second!  I believe that maximal learning occurs when students know that I care about them and their families.  I enjoy getting to know my students' personalities, likes, dislikes, dreams, fears, and their senses of humor.  In our classroom we are a family and we operate as one.  This means we value:  love, compassion, patience, honesty,  forgiveness, and kindness.

2.I believe that all students can learn!  It requires the parent, teacher, school, and community's efforts to fully educate a child.  Learning doesn't stop when the school bell rings.  We all play a role in the raising and educating of our youth.

My role is to educate, support, love, discipline, and motivate my students.  I take my role very seriously and am willing to do whatever it takes to provide the best education possible for each and every student I encounter.
