Process for Field Experience andInternship Placements1. The university/college will contact the Employee Relations and Recruitment Services Coordinator to request placement. All placement requests must be in writing and approved by the Executive Director of Human Resources.2. Once placement has been secured at a school, the university/college will receive an email verification from the Interim Director of Recruitment & Teacher Support Services.3. At the beginning of each semester, a required Intern Orientation will be held for any student completing his/her full-time student teaching in Duplin County Schools. The Interim Director of Recruitment & Teacher Support Services will notify the student well in advance.4. Duplin County Schools will conduct a criminal background check on all students completing an internship or field experience. The criminal background check report must be approved by the Executive Director of Human Resources before beginning internship/field experience. The Interim Director of Recruitment & Teacher Support Services will notify the student when the background check is approved, and he/she may begin his/her internship/field experience. (Information to run background check is collected at the Intern Orientation or sent to students electronically.)
For questions regarding field experience/intern placement, please contact the STEAMA Beginning Teacher Licensure Coordinator, Christy Johnson at (910) 290-7011 or awhitehead@duplinschools.net. Duplin County Schools values our university/college partnership and looks forward to working with you.
