Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Program

Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program

The USDA Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program provides students with a fresh fruit or vegetable snack during the school day and fun and informative nutrition education.  This program aims to help increase our student's consumption of a wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, create a healthier school environment, and positively impact family eating habits.

Warsaw Elementary School received a USDA Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program grant for the 2023-2024 school year.  The grant is coordinated by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, Duplin County Child Nutrition Services and Warsaw Elementary School, Beulaville Elementary School, Kenansville Elementary School, Wallace Elementary School, North Duplin Elementary School, Rose Hill- Magnolia Elementary School, and Chinquapin Elementary School staff. A fresh fruit or vegetable snack will be offered to students at least twice per week during the school day.  Snacks will be eaten in the classroom, and children are encouraged to try the snack each day.
