Internships

The high school Internship Program through Duplin County Schools provides junior and senior students with a work-based learning experience allowing the student to participate in the daily operations of a work site under the direct supervision of a mentor.  Its intent is to add to the content of the instructional program by giving students first-hand experience in the industry and by allowing students to make connections between their classroom learning and the workforce while earning course credit.  The work experience should contribute to the student's career pathway helping the student to narrow their career choices. The student will receive 1 high school credit on his/her transcript upon completion of all requirements as outlined by the state of NC.

Previously during the Summer of 2024, eight student interns from Duplin County Schools participated in a pioneering internship program focused on technology, general maintenance, and diesel mechanics. The program commenced on June 17 and concluded in early August, marking the first of its kind in Duplin County Schools. Each intern gained practical experience and valuable skills in their chosen field under the guidance of seasoned professionals, contributing to both their personal development and the enhancement of school operations.
