Applying to the Academy

 
Current 8th grade students:

  • Application Opens: February 28, 2025

  • Application Deadline: May 2, 2025

  • Middle school recruitment visits: March 2025

  • Students will be notified of acceptance by both school email by May 23, 2025 with a formal letter to follow to the student mailing address.

  • Mandatory orientation in the summer of 2025 for all admitted rising freshmen.

  • Academy volunteer hours for rising freshmen may begin no earlier than May 23, 2025.
     

Current 9th and 10th grade students:  

  • Application Opens: March 17, 2025

  • Application Deadline: May 15, 2025

  • Students will be notified of their application status by school email by May 23, 2025.

  • Mandatory orientation is required for all newly admitted HSA students. Newly admitted students will be given orientation date options upon acceptance.
  • All 9th and 10th graders accepted into the Academy are still responsible for the required number of hours each year. See Mrs. Jackson for guidelines on catching up on volunteer hours.
 

Transfer Students:

Students transferring from districts outside of Duplin County may be eligible to apply to the Academy, even as an 11th or 12th grader. Application eligibility will be done on a case by case basis. Transfer students must complete an application and your previous transcript and currently enrolled courses will be evaluated. Any transfer student interested in applying to the Duplin Health Sciences Academy should contact Karen Jackson (kjackson@duplinschools.net).
