Requirements & Expectations

 

8th Grade Requirements

  • Apply to the Academy in spring.

  • Register with your high school counselor for Foundations of Health Science (9th grade).

  • Maintain good grades and discipline.

  • After promotion, begin 25 volunteer hours (to be completed in 9th grade).

9th Grade Requirements

  • Take Foundations of Health Sciences (preferably) or Health Sciences I (DECHS students will follow a separate pathway)

  • Complete 25 volunteer hours by April 15

  • Maintain 3.0 GPA and clean discipline record

  • Participate in academy events/activities.

10th Grade Requirements

  • Continue Health Science/plan of study courses.

  • Maintain 3.0 weighted GPA.

  • Meet college readiness benchmarks (PSAT/Pre-ACT) if on College Transfer Pathway.

  • Complete 25 additional volunteer hours (50 total by April).

  • Keep a clean discipline record.

11th Grade Requirements

  • Enroll in AP or CCP (college) courses per plan of study.

  • Maintain 2.0 GPA in college courses and 3.0 weighted overall GPA.

  • Meet attendance requirements.

  • Complete 25 additional volunteer hours (75 total by April).

  • Keep a clean discipline record.

12th Grade Requirements

  • Take required academy/college courses.

  • Maintain 2.0 GPA in college courses and 3.0 weighted overall GPA.

  • Meet attendance requirements.

  • Complete 25 additional volunteer hours (100 total by April).

  • Keep a clean discipline record.

HSA Completer Designation

  • Finish chosen plan of study.

  • Complete 100 total volunteer hours (25 in a clinical setting).

⚠️ Students not meeting requirements may be removed from the Health Sciences Academy.
