2026-27 School Improvement Plan Timeline

(Updated 7.29.2026)

July 1 – June 30: Two meetings per month documented in NCStar with Agendas and Minutes

September 14: Self-Assessment (Phases 1-4) completed in school Google Doc to document previous years’ progress.  The 2026 Self-Assessment Data Analysis Form and the 2026 Design Principle Rubric are linked in the NCStar folder.   Previous data from each form was carried over from 2025-26 to streamline the completion.

September 14: NCStar

  • Our Direction: View Profile
    • Update school-level team members and add district Curriculum Support Team members Kevin Smith, Nicole Murray, Lindsay Ginn, Lindsay Skidmore, Erica Jones, Janice Goldsby, and Susan Smith
  • Our Direction: Set Direction
    • #1 Mission & Goals
      • Goals should include improvements in performance measures (e.g. improve School Performance Grade, improve school growth score, improve school achievement score, improve graduation rate, etc.). 
    • #3 Indicator Selection (12 Key Indicators Required, Others as Needed)
    • View Our Plan - View Selected Indicators in Success Cycle
    • Note: All schools must include action steps in Key Indicators A4.01 and D1.02.
  • Success Cycle: Assess
    • Assess each of the selected indicators (Initial level of Development, Priority Score, Opportunity Score, Describe Date-Stamped Current Level of Development)
    • Note: Leave the assessment description 2025, and include current 2026 description for each of the key indicators above the 2025 assessment. (i.e.  As of September 2026, ……….)
    • Remove any information older than the 2025-26 school year.  This includes completed actions or previous assessments.
    • Click Save
    • Note: Key Indicators A4.01 (Multi-Tiered System) and D1.02 (Resource Allocation) should be NOT be marked at full implementation, per requirements of schools with TSI/CSI designation and recommendations of NCDPI.

September 21: NCStar

  • Success Cycle: Create
    • For each indicator the school plans to create action steps and monitor improvement, the following must be completed:
      • Assign a team member to the objective
      • Establish a target date for fully implementation of the objective (Suggest no later than May 1 of any school year)
      • Describe how it will look when objective is met and the evidence you will provide upon completion.  Use Wise Ways for guidance.
      • Add/adjust action steps (Suggest target dates to be no later than May 1 of any school year)
      • Remove any information older than the 2025-26 school year.
      • Note: Key Indicator E1.06 must contain a detailed parental involvement plan (regular and meaningful two-way communication between home and school; responsible parenting; involvement of parents in student learning; involvement of parents in school decisions that affect children and families; parental training based on parents’ information need; collaboration with community agencies and other organizations to provide resources to strengthen school programs, families, and student learning; and student health awareness among parents by addressing the need for health programs and student health services, which are linked to student learning.
      • Note: Key Indicators A4.01 and D1.02 should contain actions that will lead to full implementation, while addressing the needs of all subgroups of students, and especially TSI/CSI subgroup.

September 21:

  • Complete missing data (Phases 1-4 of Self-Assessment Process – see above)
  • Complete 2026-27 Agriculture Awareness Days Plan (Google Doc Linked within NCStar)
  • Complete Safe School Plan (Google Doc linked within NCStar)
  • Complete Checklist of State-Required On-Going Operational Activities (Same Google Doc as Safe School Plan)
  • Complete Summary of School-Based Waiver Requests (Contact Kevin Smith, if applicable)

September 21-29: District review of School Improvement Plans with feedback and suggestions given to schools

September 29-October 9: Schools make final revisions of School Improvement Plan for November Bd. approval

Monthly:

  • Schools review coaching comments and respond/adjust practice, as needed
  • Schools upload evidence when actions/objectives are completed (Consider linking one Google folder for each indicator in NCStar for use with SIP and Cognia Accreditation)
