DUPLIN COUNTY MIGRANT EDUCATION PROGRAM
mp

The mission of the Migrant Education Program is to help migrant children and youth meet high academic challenges by overcoming the obstacles created by frequent moves, educational disruption, cultural and language differences, and health-related problems.

A large percentage of Duplin County's economy comes from agriculture. Therefore, a large number of workers come to Duplin County with their families in search of seasonal work (picking tobacco, blueberries, sweet potatoes, etc.).  These families including out-of-school youth (OSY) move frequently. These moves can put children at risk of staying behind in their studies or not attending school at all.  Our goal is to help the children of these migrant families so that someday they will graduate from school.
We can aid migrant students and out-of-school youth with interpreting, tutoring, school materials, referrals for other school services, referrals for medical services, and English classes.

The Migrant Education program serves all migrant students and OSY in the Duplin County School District.  For assistance, questions, or reports call:

The link below is a college guide for undocumented students. It is a valuable resource for those students that will be graduating from high school and are unsure of what schools they can attend based on their legal status. Please feel free to access the website and see what is available for your students.
