Keep It Simple

Ms. Williamson misses you!

  • Sweet Students --- Please know that I am thinking about you and your families while you are home during this time! I miss each of your smiling faces and cannot wait to be back in our classroom together again! Until then, please continue reading every day! Become the teacher and read your books to your parents, siblings, and stuffed animals. Ask them questions about what happened in the story. Make it fun! Take some time to play in the yard or take walks with your family and talk about the plants and animals or the shapes that you see. Spend a few minutes each day writing! Write about a book you read. Write about an activity you did with your family. Write about your favorite sport, food, or toy. Just keep writing! Also, be sure to get outside to play and enjoy the sunshine! You have each made so much growth this year so keep practicing at home! Remember that I love you and I am very proud of you!

Parents --- I know this is a difficult and uncertain time for us all in so many ways. Please know that I am here to support you and your child as they continue learning at home! I will continue to share resources and activities with you each week as guidance for home learning. You can also find educational sites under my Useful Links tab. All activities are optional and are simply to provide you and your child with extra practice on topics we cover in 1st grade. Some will be familiar to them and some will be new to them, but the best part is they are all free to use! Check them out with your child and see what catches their interest! Focus on what works for them at home! The most important thing you can do with your child is read and let them read to you! Also, encourage them to write about what they read and the activities they do each week!  If you ever have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me online through ClassTag, by phone: 910-289-2142, or by email: swilliamson@duplinschools.net. I pray you all stay safe and well! We will get through this together!!
