Mrs. James
Just a little about me.
I was born and raised in the beautiful town of Kenansville.
I graduated from James Kenan High School in Warsaw, NC. I was a North Carolina Scholar and graduated in the top 10% of my senior class. After high school, I went to East Carolina University where I graduated with honors. I earned a BS Degree in Elementary Education and certification in Middle Grades Mathematics. While attending ECU, I was a member of Kappa Delta Pi, Education Honor Society and a sister of Epsilon Sigma Alpha, service sorority who served St. Jude's Children Hospital.
This will be my 13th year teaching and 10th year teaching 8th grade Math. I have also taught 3rd grade all subjects and 5th grade science/math.
I enjoy spending time with family, playing with my son, friends, playing with my niece, playing with my dog Sadie, playing tennis, walking, napping, swimming, laying out, and reading.
I am so excited and can't wait for a FABULOUS YEAR!
Every classroom presents a unique community of learners that varies not only in abilities, but also in learning styles. My role as a teacher is to give children the tools with which to cultivate their own gardens of knowledge. To accomplish this goal, I will teach to the needs of each child so that all learners can feel capable and successful. I will present curriculum that involves the interests of the children and makes learning relevant to life. I will incorporate themes, integrated units, projects, group work, individual work, and hands-on learning in order to make children active learners. Finally, I will tie learning into the world community to help children become caring and active members of society.
Please feel free to contact me anytime you have questions, comments, or concerns.
