Ms. Lauren McMahon
Hello! I am Lauren McMahon and I am so excited to be serving as the STEAMA Curriculum Facilitator at B.F. Grady Elementary! This is my twelfth year in education. I graduated from East Carolina University in 2011 with my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and again in 2019 with my Master's Degree in Elementary Education. I am licensed to teach Elementary Education K-6 and Reading K-12 in the state of North Carolina. My future plans involve becoming an educational leader in our district.
I've always wanted to be a teacher and my favorite part of teaching is the relationships I build with students and families each year. I am a product of Duplin County Schools. I attended Beulaville Elementary and East Duplin High School. I love that I am able to teach in the community I was raised in.

I live near Beulaville with my son, Langston and our golden lab, Cookie. In my free time, I enjoy the beach, traveling, attending concerts, DIY and home improvement, crafting/painting, enjoying my front yard swing, and spending time with my family.
Educational Philosophy
My educational philosophy involves two important beliefs:
1. I believe in building solid relationships. I believe that cultivating genuine relationships with all stakeholders builds trust and opens the lines of communication. This provides a strong foundation to work from.

2. I believe that everyone can learn! Cultivating lifelong learners is a primary goal of educators around the world. Being curious, solving problems, learning new skills, improving areas of weakness, and being receptive to others are all ways we can be lifelong learners.
