Mrs. Monica Parker

Hello! Welcome to 3rd Grade!

My name is Monica Parker, and I will be your child's teacher for the upcoming school year!  I am eager to meet your child and guide them through third grade.  I am looking forward to a magnificent year!  It is my goal to provide all my students with an educational challenge, but yet fun, experience in my classroom.

First, I would like to provide some background information about myself.  I have been an employee for the Duplin County Public School System for over 15 yrs as a substitute teacher, instructional assistant and bus driver.  I have experienced many grade levels throughout my career.  I have earned my Associates of Arts and Science in Elementary Education from JSCC, and I have my Bachelor of Arts degree with an emphasis of Mathematics from Grand Canyon University, where I also completed a teacher training program.

I have extremely high expectations for all my students, reason, I believe that all student's can learn.  I will do all I can to help your child achieve those expectations.  I believe that in order to effectively teach my student, I must know as much about them as possible.  Therefore, I look forward to meet you and your family.  I also believe that every student in my classroom is an outstanding individual with their own beliefs, ideas and feelings.

My teaching will be tailored to each student's ways of learning so they can all achieve and become effective throughout their community in their best ability.  Throughout the course of the year, we will focus on these types of programs: Third Grade CCSS, STEAMA, NewsELA just to name a few.  I believe that students should take an active roll in their learning.  Therefore, many of my lessons place them at the center of the classroom of guiding learning.  Your child will spend very little time listening to me talk at the front of the classroom and they will instead be active participants in all of the activities we do in the classroom.

Finally, I want you to know that one of my most important goals of the year is to keep the lines of communication open with you.  I am available everyday to talk with you, with any questions or concerns you may have about your child.  You may call or email me at any time.  For that being said, I know we will have a "GREAT" year!

Thank you for trusting me with your child's learning!
