Hello Parents,

I hope everyone is doing as well as they can be during this time. I wanted to start off by saying I miss all 65 of my students dearly. I miss their sweet faces, silly jokes, obsession with Tik Tok dances, and everything in between!

I am so sad to hear how long we will be out of school, but myself and the 5th grade team are here for you and your children. For now, I will be sending home resources that your child can complete at home using an electronic device. These resources are NOT REQUIRED but will be helpful while your child is learning from home!

Resources:

On Study Island, your child will go under my class and click "Extra Resources for ELA", there are over 40 tasks they can complete.

RoomRecess is a great resource for not only reading, but math as well! This is a fun site your child is very familiar with from my class.

A new source your child has not used in 5th grade is Commonlit.org, once accessing this site, there will be a class code your child will use to login depending on their homeroom teacher. This resource is a great way for your child to continue practicing doing passages at home. I will be able to monitor their progress and give feedback to your child if they chose to participate in this activity.  The website will generate a username for each student, your child will create their own password. Please make sure if your child uses this resource that they write down their login information. The codes will be below for your child's login

Please share with your child that I encourage them to continue to read at home daily!

Parents as soon as we know more information myself and the 5th grade team will reach out and inform you on what steps we will take next. Please stay safe and always remember, we are Duplin Strong.

Love,

Ms. Jones
