Ms. Okereke (Ms. O)
My name is Chisom Okereke (Ms. O) and I am the 7th Grade Math Teacher at Rose Hill-Magnolia Elementary. I hope this webpage finds you well!
My goal this year is to make Math accessible, understandable, and enjoyable for my scholars. I was once a student that viewed math as something that I simply wasn't meant to be good at. I was discouraged and unmotivated the second I stepped into a math classroom. It wasn't until I found a way to relate math to something that I truly enjoyed that I was finally able to excel. That wasn't until I was college... it should never take that long. What better day than TODAY for our scholars?
Math really doesn't have to be ALL boring. Believe it or not, it can actually be really fun. I personally do not believe that there is a such thing as having/not having a "math brain". Because you have a brain, YOU CAN and WILL excel in math. Period. Every scholar is capable of enjoying and succeeding with math. They deserve to have their very own SUCCESS story!
This is my second year teaching here at Rose Hill-Magnolia so, in order for you to get to know me a little bit better, I would love to share a few details about myself. I graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health Studies. I am also a 2019 Teach for America Corps Member right here in Eastern North Carolina. I grew up in Maryland surrounded by fields and farms, so I already feel like Duplin County is my home away from home!
I always make it a point to get to know all of my scholars and their support systems! Please feel free to reach out to me at any time if you have any questions, comments, or concerns!
