Miss Alex Deffendall

Welcome to my page! My Name is Miss Alex Deffendall and I am the K-2 Exceptional Children's Resource Teacher. I am so excited to be part of the Eagle team and to be your child’s resource teacher for the 2022-2023 school year!

I was born and raised in a small town in southern Indiana. I am the youngest of six siblings and an aunt to nine amazing nieces and nephews. I moved to North Carolina in July 2019 to be with my boyfriend and his two kids. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, being with my dog and going to the beach. In May 2017, I graduated from college with a Bachelor of Arts in All Grade Special Education at Oakland City University in Indiana. I am currently earning my Master's in Autism and will graduate in April 2023. This will be my 6th year teaching and second year at Rose Hill-Magnolia! I have taught in a 6-8 moderate/severe self-contained life skills classroom and a K-5 general curriculum separate setting self-contained classroom.

My mission as a teacher is to instill a sense of confidence within my students which allows them to have the motivation and willpower to be successful to the best of their abilities. To achieve this mission, I will make it a priority to develop a relationship with each student and to make sure each child I interact with is provided the opportunity to reach his/her full potential. While promoting full potential, I use my enthusiasm for teaching to establish a fun and engaging learning experience. I hope that my students leave the classroom each day with a love for learning and a sense of achievement.  I can’t wait to get to know each of your children! I am always here to help in any way possible to ensure each of my students is as successful as possible! This year is going to be full of individual growth, great memories, and lots of fun!

Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns you may have.
