North Duplin Elementary School is a K-6 school, serving approximately 650 students, in rural Duplin County. With a strong focus on academics, North Duplin Elementary School prides itself on meeting the needs of the 21st Century learner in a community school setting. Through the generous support of our district and EPIC, our parent teacher organization, every academic classroom is outfitted with a SMART interactive whiteboard and we are continuously increasing the number of digital tools to support engaging instruction. In order to reach the goal of implementing a 1:1 student to device initiative, we set goals and work hard to provide the devices needed to support the digital world which we live in today. Our school currently has two iPod carts, five grade level iPad carts, and five Dell laptop carts. In 2014-2015, NDE was selected to participate in a 5th grade 1:1 iPad initiative. This means that each of our fifth grade students have their own iPad that is assigned to them throughout the entire school day. Our PE and ESL departments also have one cart each to assist with teaching these special areas. During the spring of 2015, NDE was also able to add one MacBook Air laptop cart to our collection. These devices are being utilized by our sixth grade students to prepare them for the middle school and high school virtual environment. Our certified teachers have a MacBook laptop and iPad to help plan and implement a rigorous curriculum. We are also excited about our new leveled library which has been added to increase literacy among each Rebel at North Duplin Elementary! In order to prepare our students for a globally competitive society, North Duplin Elementary School is bringing the world to our doorstep! Each grade level has adopted a continent or country and travels the world as they navigate through their curriculum each day. Kindergarteners study South Africa, first graders explore Brazil, second graders learn about Canada, third graders travel through China, fourth graders study Scotland, fifth graders explore Australia, and sixth graders travel through Egypt! We are creating students who are...- life-long learners- globally competitive- digital savvyThank you for your support!
