    Attention RHM Families!! During this time of school closures, your Rose Hill-Magnolia teachers and staff are still working behind the scences to make sure the educational needs of your student(s) are met. Although we can't gather togheter on campus, each and everyone one of us want to ensure the needs of our students are met. During these uncertain times we want to remain informed and attentive to the needs of our students. So, if your family or student(s) have a need, please complete the survey linked below.     What is a school counselor? 

    A school counselor is a certified professional who works within a child's total environment to assist him/her in addressing their academic, behavioral, emotional and social needs.

    What does the school counselor do?

    • Serves as a "friendly helper" for ALL students and works with students on an individual basis and in small groups
    • Facilitates classroom guidance and counseling sessions, helps identify student needs, and assists in assessment of students with special needs
    • Oversees Character Education initiatives at the elementary level
    • Consults with parents, teachers, administrators, and community agencies and aids in coordinating referrals to outside agencies
    • Upholds the ASCA ethical standards for school counselors

    With what types of things can a Counselor help?

    ·         The School Counselor can provide support services to address a number of issues, including (though certainly not limited to) the following:

    * Anger Management

    * Coping Skills

    * Parenting Skills

    * Anxiety

    * Divorce/Changing Families    

    * Self-Esteem

    * Behavior Modification    

    * Friendship Skills
