Welcome Fifth Graders and Parents to the 2022-2023 School Year!

My name is Ms. Shanika R. Murphy and I am once again excited to be a part of Rose Hill Magnolia's fifth grade team! I am ready to begin year 15 as your child's English Language Arts and Science teacher. I have taught grades first, second, fifth and eighth with the majority of my teaching experience as a fifth grade Language Arts and Science teacher for eleven years.

I am a native of Duplin County and attended Rose Hill Magnolia Elementary and Charity Middle School.  I graduated from Wallace Rose Hill in 2003 and attended and graduated from East Carolina University in 2008 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education K-6 and a minor in Child Studies.  I obtained a Master of Arts degree in Reading Education from Grand Cayon University last fall. I began teaching at RHM in 2008 and have continued to carry out my dreams of coming home and making a difference.  I have a son, Kalen, who will be entering sixth grade this school year. 

Our goal for the upcoming school year is to prepare your child for sixth grade.  My plan to accomplish this goal is by teaching the requirements set by the state for fifth grade.  Your child will be assessed weekly to check their progress and comprehension of objectives taught in class.  I will keep you knowledgeable about the results of your child's assessments through progress reports, report cards, and conferences.
