WELCOME MESSAGE: I am happy for all the students that have completed their 7th grade year and will be moving up to the 8th grade in the 2019-2020 school year. I am also excited for the new beginnings of the upcoming 7th graders, directly below and under the assignments link is the directions and assignment for the summer work packet. If the students work a page and a half each week, they will be done before school starts in August.
I will be starting my 3rd year at Kenansville Elementary School family, this will be my 12th year teaching. Every year we have another great group of students. We are going to be working hard this year with the goal of having everyone improve to their maximum abilities.
A BIT ABOUT ME : I graduated High School in Erie, Pennsylvania in 1984 and immediately left for Marine Corps boot camp. I spent the next 23 1/2 years as a Marine traveling the world working in the communications field. I have been married to the same wonderful woman for 29 years this December, we have 2 wonderful grown children, One working extremely well in a management position in the communications field. Our other child is working as a social worker in Harnett County. In 2003 I completed by Bachelors degree in Business Administration graduating with high honors. I retired from the Marine Corps in November of 2006 and decided that I wanted to teach Mathematics at the middle grades level. I began working through UNCW while still working as a math teacher. I completed all my courses and in 2010 received my teaching license. This will be my third year teaching science, however science has always been an interest of mine. Math and science go well together.
I have many interests and enjoy collecting things. I love to cook, experiment with food, and try new foods. I collect stamps, football and baseball cards, movies, and books, I like to hunt and fish. My kids and I deep sea fishing each summer. The other major event I plan for the this summer is to take my wife to western NC to go gem mining, among other stones we ususally find are small emeralds, rubies, sapphires, and garnets.
