North Duplin Jr./Sr. High School DCEF Scholarships

The George Adrian Dail Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior of Duplin County Schools that is attending North Duplin Jr./Sr. High School.  The students will be able to attend any institution of higher education to pursue their career goal.  This scholarship is to help ensure that a student who has excelled academically and plans to attend college is provided recognition for their achievement.  

The scholarship will be for a value of $1,000 one-time payment.  Once the student has been selected for the scholarship, the student must complete the Scholarship Verification form and send the copy to the Duplin County Education Foundation and the attending college.  Upon receipt of notification of enrollment by the college or university, the payment will be made directly to the college or university.  

Requirements: 

• Must be a graduating senior at North Duplin Jr./Sr. High School
• Completed DCEF Scholarship Application
• Must have a minimum of a 4.0  weighted GPA

The Smith Brothers Gas Company & Southeastern Water Conditioning Layla Grace Mewborn Memorial Scholarship will be awarded in May to a male and female student that attends James Kenan or Wallace-Rose Hill High Schools and a female who attends North Duplin Jr./Sr. High School.   The students will be able to attend any institution of higher education to pursue their career goal.  This scholarship is to help ensure that a student who is community-minded, has excelled academically and plans to attend college is provided recognition for their achievement. 

The scholarships will be one time only for a value of $750.00 each.  Once the students have been selected for the scholarship, the students must complete the Scholarship Verification Form and send a copy of the Education Foundation and the attending college.  Upon receipt of notification of enrollment by the college or university, the payment will be made directly to the college or university. 

Requirements: 

• Must be a graduating senior at Wallace-Rose Hill High School, James Kenan High School or North Duplin Jr./Sr. High School
• Completed DCEF Scholarship Application
• Must have a minimum of a 4.0 weighted GPA

The Chinquapin Elementary Alumni Scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior of Duplin County Schools that has attended Chinquapin Elementary School for at least 5 years.  The student will be able to attend any institution of higher education to pursue their career goal.  This scholarship is to help ensure that a student who has excelled academically and plans to attend  college is provided recognition for their achievement.  

The scholarship will be for a value of $6,000 ($1,500 per year for 4 consecutive years).  Once a student has been selected for the scholarship, the student will receive Scholarship Verification Forms that must be returned to the Duplin County Education Foundation AND the college annually for 4 years.  Upon receipt of notification of enrollment by the college or university, the payment will be made directly to the college or university annually.  The scholarship funds must be utilized within 9 consecutive semesters from the scholarship award date.  

Requirements:

• Student must be a Duplin County Schools' graduating senior who attended Chinquapin Elementary for at least 5 years
• Completed DCEF Scholarship Application including the 2 required essays
• Must have a minimum of a 4.0 weighted GPA

The Lois W. Precythe Teacher Scholarship will be awarded annually to a North Duplin High School senior, based on merit, who plans to attend any institution of higher education to pursue their career in teaching.  This scholarship is to help ensure that a student who has excelled academically and who plans to teach is provided recognition for their achievement.  

The scholarship will be for a value of $5,000.00 ($1,250 per year for 4 consecutive years).  Once the student has been selected for the scholarship, the student will receive Scholarship Verification Forms that must be returned to the Duplin County Education Foundation and the attending college annually for 4 years.  Upon receipt of notification of enrollment by the college or university, the payment will be made directly to the college or university.  

Precythe scholarship funds that are awarded must be utilized within 9 consecutive semesters from the scholarship award inception.  

Requirements: 

• Must be a graduating senior from North Duplin High School
• Plans to pursue teaching as a career
• Must have a minimum 4.0 weighted GPA 
• Must participate in an interview

The Nelson Precythe Endowment Scholarship will be awarded annually to a North Duplin High School senior who plans to attend any institution of higher education to pursue their career goals.  This scholarship is to help ensure that a student who has excelled academically is provided recognition for their achievement.  

The scholarship will be for a value of $5,000.00 ($1,250 per year for 4 consecutive years).  Once the student has been selected for the scholarship, the student will receive Scholarship Verification Forms that must be returned to the Duplin County Education Foundation and the attending college annually for 4 years.  Upon receipt of notification of enrollment by the college or university, the payment will be made directly to the college or university.

The scholarship will be for a value of $5,000.00 ($1,250 per year for 4 consecutive years).  Once the student has been selected for the scholarship, the student will receive Scholarship Verification Forms that must be returned to the Duplin County Education Foundation and the attending college annually for 4 years.  Upon receipt of notification of enrollment by the college or university, the payment will be made directly to the college or university.

 The Calypso Historical Committee Scholarship will be awarded annually to a senior graduating from North Duplin Jr./Sr. High School who lives in the Calypso community as designated on a map located in the school.  The scholarship will be one time only for a value of $300.  Once a student has been selected for the scholarship, the student must complete the Scholarship Verification Form and send a copy to the Education Foundation and the attending college.  Upon receipt of notification of enrollment by the college or university, the payment will be made directly to the college or university.  

Requirements: 

• Student must be a graduating senior of North Duplin Jr Sr High School who lives in the Calypso community.
• Completed DCEF Scholarship Application
• Minimum 4.0 weighted GPA 

The William L. Hennessee & Bobbie G. Hennessee Scholarships will be awarded annually to 20 Duplin County Seniors, based on merit, planning to attend any institution of higher education to pursue their career goals.   This scholarship is to help ensure that students who have excelled academically are provided recognition for their achievement.  

The scholarships will be for one time only for a value of $1,000 per student.  Once a student has been selected for the scholarship, the student will receive a Scholarship Verification Form that must be returned to the Duplin County Education Foundation AND the college.  Upon receipt of notification of enrollment by the college or university, the payment will be made directly to the college or university.

Requirements:

• Completed DCEF Scholarship Application
• Must have a minimum of a 4.0  weighted GPA

The DCEF Scholarship in memory of L.S. Guy and honor of Dr. Tommy Benson will be awarded annually to 2 students in Duplin County Schools.  The students will be able to attend any institution of higher education to pursue their career goal.  This scholarship is to help ensure that a student who has excelled academically and who plans to attend college is provided recognition for their achievement.  

The scholarships will be on time only for a value of $500.  Once a student has been selected for the scholarship, the student will receive a Scholarship Verification Form that must be returned to the Duplin County Education Foundation AND the college.  Upon receipt of notification of enrollment by the college or university, the payment will be made directly to the college or university.

• Completed DCEF Scholarship Application
• Must have a minimum of a 4.0 weighted GPA

The Kenansville Lions Club Scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior that has a visual impairment, is legally blind, or is planning for a future career in the eye care field. This scholarship is to help ensure that a student who has excelled academically and plans to attend college is provided recognition for their achievement.  

The scholarship will be for one time only at a value of $500.  Once a student has been selected for the scholarship, the student will receive a Scholarship Verification Form that must be returned to the Duplin County Education Foundation AND the college.  Upon receipt of notification of enrollment by the college or university, the payment will be made directly to the college or university annually.  

Requirements:

• Must be a Duplin County Schools' graduating senior 
• Must be visually impaired, legally blind or pursuing an eye care career
• Completed DCEF Scholarship Application
• Must have a minimum of a 4.0 weighted GPA
