Board Recognized for Service to School System and Students

Thank you, Board of Education!

KENANSVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA – January 4, 2017 – Each member of the Duplin County
Board of Education was presented with a small gift of appreciation during the Board’s meeting last night. Christy Johnson, chairman of the Teacher Advisory Committee (TAC), thanked the Board on behalf of Duplin County Schools and the TAC.

“We thank you for your dedication, leadership, and commitment to this Board and to the staff and students of Duplin County Schools,” said Johnson. “As a Board of Education member, you have to wear many hats with some of the most important being an advocate for children, an advocate for the educators of Duplin County Schools, a voice for parents, and a bridge for community members.”

She went on to say, “We continue to need your guidance, your dedication, and your commitment to move our school system forward. You are ordinary citizens with extraordinary dedication to our community, our school system, and our children and we are truly thankful for that. Thank you for your service to Duplin County Schools.”

Superintendent Dr. Austin Obasohan later said of the Board of Education, “All of them love our students and work tirelessly to ensure success for each of them. Their dedication and support to providing our students with the very best education we can offer is appreciated more than they can ever know. We thank each of them and their families for the sacrifices continuously made on behalf of our school system.”
