Parents and students were free to walk throughout the building from session to session learning about a variety of topics including STEM, music and arts, social studies and cyber bullying. Some of the sessions provided were “Fitness Monopoly”, Greek Olympics, Hot Bench Reading Strategies, Trash-ket Ball, Calendar PowerPoint and STEAM: Making a Water Bottle Membranophone.
The hallways and classrooms were filled with the hustle and bustle of learning! Community agencies setup booths in the hallways to inform parents of the services available. Some of the agencies in attendance were NC Cooperative Extension/Duplin County 4-H, NCSECU (NC State Employees Credit Union), and Educational Talent Search. The Duplin County Public Library System was available to distribute library cards, and Vidant Duplin offered wellness checks including blood pressure and blood sugar screenings. There were lots of door prizes and goodies available throughout the night. Families received special gift bags with parent involvement information, calendars and bookmarks. Everyone also enjoyed a pizza dinner.
