KENANSVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA- October 4, 2018- Several local groups have teamed together to gather and donate book bags for students in the aftermath of Hurricane Florence. Edwards & Associates Physical Therapy, Duplin County Cooperative Extension Youth Programs, and East Duplin High School and North Duplin Jr/Sr High School athletes have collected and prepared 509 book bags filled with school supplies.
Student athletes from both schools met last weekend to fill the book bags with age-appropriate items.
Coordinator Brittainy Edwards Kildow, who began the project shortly after Hurricane Florence and soon thereafter teamed up with EDHS Teacher Heather Houston and others, was very pleased with the generosity of so many. “We hoped we would get 100 or maybe 200 and to be able to gather 509 was incredible. I was very pleased with the joint effort and hard work of all of the student athletes who volunteered.”
Duplin County Schools is very thankful to the many who have assisted students and staff and those who continue to do so.
