Smithfield Partners With Amerigas To Provide Money For Our Schools
KENANSVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA- February 5, 2019 - Smithfield Hog Production Division General Manager, Mr. Dexter Edwards made a special donation to our traditional high schools at the board meeting this past Tuesday night. “I am proud to say Smithfield has partnered with the gas company, Amerigas, and we have started a program that we are calling ‘Turning gas bills into cash for our schools,’” stated Edwards. “The program is .02 cents of each gallon of fuel that we buy for the comfort of our pigs, Amerigas turns back in to cash for our schools.”
Checks were given to East Duplin High School, James Kenan High School, North Duplin Jr./Sr. High School, and Wallace Rose-Hill High School totaling $5,500. Mr. Edwards stated for the schools to “use this money for anything that helps further the education of the children of our communities and our future.”
