North Duplin Jr./Sr. Wins Middle School Battle of the Books Competition
KENANSVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA- March 5, 2019- North Duplin Jr/Sr High School won Duplin County School’s annual Middle School Battle of the Books Competition last week. B.F. Grady Elementary School placed second and Wallace Elementary School placed third. All middle schools in the district were represented in the competition, which requires students to recall their knowledge of specific information from 27 books selected by the NC School Library Media Association.
North Duplin Jr./Sr. High School team members are: Harleigh Faulk, Haygen Warren, Venus Zepeda, Brendan Bullard, Noah Taylor, Ada Stevens, and Rafael Batalla. The coach for this team is Laura Thornton.
B.F. Grady Elementary School team members are: Brian Bartolon, Omar Juarez, Andriy Juan, Gabriella Pineda, Gabe Guerrero, Summer Wiggins, Courtney Mercer, and Lilianna Phelps. Coaches are Marilyn Kennedy and Terry Smith.
Wallace Elementary School team members are: Aileen Burger, Avery Murray, Mia Diaz, Kaylee Powell, Jordan Hooper, Azyria Lee, Gabrieionna Herring, and Janiya Lamb. Coaches are Dena Hall and Tonya Patram.
North Duplin will go on to represent Duplin County on April 12 at the Regional competition in Wayne County. Congratulations to all students, coaches, and schools!
