KENANSVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA- April 12, 2019- Duplin County hosted its All County Chorus and Arts Festival last week! On March 28 and 29, students from across the county met at Sandy Plain Church in Beulaville to learn songs for the All County Chorus Concert. These students were chosen based on their ability to sing with confidence and accuracy. The Middle School Chorus was under the direction of Karla Casteen. She is a Duplin County native and has been in education her entire career. The students enjoyed working with her and did a great job at the concert under her direction.
The High School Chorus was under the direction of Mr. Jonathan Saeger from the University of Mount Olive. He picked an array of songs that the students enjoyed. They excelled in their pieces and had a wonderful time learning from a College Music Professor. Both Middle and High School Chorus Ensembles did five pieces with a wide range of repertoire from show tunes and Latin pieces to very difficult rhythmic spirituals. The concert was held on Friday night, March 29 at 7:00 PM.
Equally impressive was the art show created by Duplin County K-8 Art Teachers. There was a fantastic array of artistic expression by the K-8 students. Duplin County Schools is certainly filled with great talent! We appreciate the Art teachers, Music teachers and Sandy Plain Church personnel for making this event happen. A special thanks to the art teachers, music teachers and Sandy Plain Church personnel for the wonderful concert! We could not have done it without you. Great job Duplin County!
