DCS Employee of the Quarter


 BOE give Ms. Sholar recognition plaque


Kenansville, NC - October 1, 2019 

On Tuesday night, the Board of Education reconized Karen Sholar as DCS Employee of the Quarter. Board chairman, Brent Davis presented a plaque to Ms. Sholar on behalf of the Board of Education.

Ms. Sholar has played a vital role in our Transportation department for over 15 years. She served as Secretary of the Duplin County Schools Bus Garage for 10 years and then Assistant Transportation Director for 5. On March 6, 2019 she was named Sr. Assistant Director of Transportation where she continues to be an integral part of the department. She serves diligently and works hard to efficiently schedule routes for over 5,000 students traveling over 8,000 miles daily. This past summer she won 1st place in the TIMS bus routing competition at the NC Pupil Transportation Association Transposium in Wilmington, NC.  She is a driving force in the Transportation Department and a valuable member of our school family. Her dedication and commitment to the department and the students of Duplin County Schools is outstanding.

Chairman Davis said, "It's amazing what Ms. Sholar and her team have to do on a daily basis when it comes to tranporting our students. We appreciate everything that she does". After accepting the plaque, Ms. Sholar added, "This plaque goes to the entire transportation team. It takes everybody working together so this plaque is for all of them."
