DCS Grows Future Educational Leaders
Kenansville, NC- March 3, 2020- At Tuesday night’s board meeting, Mr. Daren Tyndall, Executive Director of Human Resources for Duplin County Schools presented the implementation process for the upcoming DCS Leadership Academy for Prospective Leaders scheduled to begin summer 2020.
Mr. Tyndall shared, “We are excited to bring this opportunity back to potential educational leaders in Duplin County Schools. The first Leadership Academy process was implemented in our school system in 2014. From that partnership with the University of North Carolina at Wilmington 7 leadership candidates emerged. One candidate currently serves as a Central Office Director. Another candidate serves as a current principal in the district while 4 other candidates serve as assistant principals across the county.
Through an application and interview process, up to ten prospective leaders will be chosen for the academy. Participants will receive up to $5,000 per year up to a maximum of three years and will participate in a Master of School Administration Program or an add-on School Administration Licensure Program.
“We appreciate the continued support of our Board of Education in providing this amazing opportunity to grow our own future leaders. The DCS Leadership Academy will give our district the ability to recruit and retain top quality educational leaders, which is vital to the success of all students,” said Superintendent, Dr. Austin Obasohan.
