Message from Dr. O
Good afternoon, this is Dr. O.
I am prayerful that you are having a meaningful and safe summer!
Yesterday, the Governor announced that the state is moving forward with implementing Plan B for reopening schools, which is a combination of face-to-face and remote learning. Full-time remote teaching and learning will be available for higher-risk students, families, teachers, and staff and for those who are not comfortable returning to school at this time. We are dedicated to meeting the needs of all of our family members.
While we were anxiously awaiting this news, our staff developed comprehensive, effective instructional programs which give us the ability to move from one reopening plan to another throughout the school year based on community health needs. In the days ahead, our detailed plans will be available in print and online.
We can assure you that the upcoming school year will not be like last year when COVID-19 forced us to close schools and scramble into remote learning without notice. The 20-21 school year will be much different with more comprehensive, significantly stronger accountability. Whether it be in-person learning, remote learning, or a combination of both, DCS is ready to kick teaching and learning into high gear come August.
Our Board of Education is committed to meeting the needs of all students and ensuring every child receives the quality education they deserve in a safe and nurturing environment. They have invested in additional resources to ensure a fruitful school year, and we thank you for entrusting us with your most precious gift.
Stay tuned for more information on the reopening of schools. We appreciate your patience and support. We are in this together!
