DCS Employee of the Quarter
During its October 5, 2021 meeting, the Duplin County Schools Board of Education recognized Mrs. Kim Matthis as Employee of the Quarter.
Mrs. Kim Matthis has been employed with Duplin County Schools since 2012 when she started as a Guidance Assistant at James Kenan High School. She joined the Human Resources team as Office Manager in November 2015 and was promoted to Senior Office Manager this past January. Board Chairman Mr. Brent Davis acknowledged her wide range of responsibilities including processing paperwork for new hires and conducting orientations and much more. Davis added, “She is dedicated to her job and always displays a pleasant disposition. Mrs. Matthis can always be counted on to get the job done and get it done well. On behalf of the Board of Education, it is an honor for me to be able to recognize Mrs. Kim Matthis tonight as Duplin County Schools Employee of the Quarter.”
Mrs. Matthis stated, “It is truly an honor to receive this recognition. I enjoy my work with Duplin County Schools. I am fortunate to work with a great HR Team as well as staff in other departments and, of course, all of our schools. A special thank you to Mr. Tyndall and Dr. Obasohan for their support.”
Daren Tyndall, Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources, said he has “had the pleasure of working with Mrs. Matthis for four years. She works diligently in her role and strives to meet the needs of everyone who works in our school system. She is kind and professional and truly deserving of this honor.”
Superintendent Dr. Austin Obasohan shared, “Mrs. Matthis plays a vital role in supporting the HR Department and principals in staffing our schools. We are thankful for her and everything she does for the DCS family.”
