Kane Accepted to NC Space Grant Education Ambassadors Program
Duplin Early College High School Science Teacher, Kristen Kane, has been accepted to the NC Space Grant Education Ambassador Program. She was also selected to present at the 2022 North Carolina Science Teacher Association (NCSTA) Professional Development Institute.
At the NCSTA Institute, Ms. Kane's presentation topic was: Integrating Student Culture Into Chemistry. The session's focus was on how to connect the NC Chemistry curriculum with culturally relevant lessons.
As a NC Space Grant Educator Ambassador, Ms. Kane will help develop and align NASA-themed lessons to North Carolina's Standard Course of Study for science classes. She was 1 of 16 teachers selected from 12 counties. The NCSTA program is offered in collaboration with the NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia. NC Space Grant partners along with NASA education specialists from various NASA centers, including Langley, provide professional development seminars following NASA Next Gen STEM education themes. Ambassadors earn NASA digital badges as they participate and progress in professional development opportunities.
Congratulations Ms. Kane!
