James Sprunt Community College (JSCC) recently highlighted a staff member of the DCS Maintenance Department in a series titled, “Student Success Story”. Devian Taylor, who currently works in the plumbing department, had an opportunity to share how JSCC helped him to find a program that would allow him to develop and enhance his plumbing skills. Mr. Taylor shared how the trade programs offered by JSCC truly gave him an opportunity to not only pursue a career pathway that interests him, but also helped him to be successful in that pathway.

Mr. Ronald Moore, Director of Maintenance for Duplin County Schools, shared, “Devian Taylor began working with Duplin County Schools Maintenance Department in November of 2020 as a painter assistant. He later transitioned from painting to learning the trade of plumbing after our lead plumber retired. Devian possesses the ultimate "can do" attitude while taking on all tasks with positive energy and a smile. His upbeat personality and engaging personal style enabled him to interact effectively with staff at all schools. He is very well organized and keeps track of the details necessary to coordinate tasks and run our plumbing department. All the intangibles that lead to success in the workplace are in order with Devian. There will be no unpleasant surprises and I am confident and proud of the work that he does.”

Congratulations Mr. Taylor on your recent recognition!
