Karen Sholar Named Employee of the Quarter

Kenansville, North Carolina- May 2, 2023-Tuesday night’s Board of Education meeting was held in the O.P. Johnson Board of Education building. During this meeting, Ms. Karen Sholar was named Employee of the Quarter for Duplin County Schools.

Board Chairman, Mr. Brent Davis, commended Ms. Sholar on her dedicated service to Duplin County Schools where she has served the past 22 years. Ms. Sholar began her career in 2001 as the Secretary/TIMS Coordinator for the Transportation Department. In 2014, she transitioned into the role of Assistant Transportation Director and served for 5 years before taking on the role of Senior Assistant Director of Transportation where she currently serves. 

Chairman Davis shared, “ Ms. Sholar is an innovative leader who works with the Director of Transportation to develop accurate and timely bus routes for over 5,000 students across the district. Her commitment to Duplin County Schools is commendable, and she is an asset to our school system. It is an honor to present Ms. Karen Sholar with the Employee of the Quarter Award.”

After accepting her plaque, Ms. Sholar thanked the Board members, Chairman Davis and Dr. Obasohan. She  shared, “This is certainly a team effort and I depend on a lot of people to get this job done, so thank you.”
