A wish came true last month for DCS high school student Stephanie Betancourth as she received a trip to the most magical place on earth. Make-A-Wish Eastern North Carolina shared the exciting news with Stephanie and her family and announced that her wish had been granted and she would be going to Walt Disney World.

According to Make-A-Wish Eastern North Carolina,”This trip is a once in a lifetime experience  for a wish family, and, we hope, an escape from sometimes overwhelming medical concerns.”

Stephanie has been diagnosed with a critical illness but she has not let that stop her. She continued to persevere and walked across the stage and graduated with her fellow WRH Bulldogs on June 1st.

Dr. Leon Kea, Director of Duplin County Schools Center of Opportunity shared, “Stephanie is an amazing young lady. She fights for her health every day in ways that most people don’t understand and has done so much more than expected. She was hurting and still came to school. Her transportation was wrecked and she still came to school as much as her health would allow her. Stephanie is a fighter and she speaks so much positivity about her life and comes to school very motivated and always ready to work, even with pain. Her smile and determination are without question. The Center of Opportunity staff and I truly believe that through her amazing dedication, she will complete her high school diploma and continue to achieve what God has planned for her.”

We are so proud of you Stephanie!
